I'm not surprised......I'm sure that the GMAC heard from the Toledo admin that a match-up against UCF would not be that compelling to many Toledo fans due to UCF's recent play in the MAC. I think UCF would've brought a good team and a lot of fans to Mobile, though, and luckily for the GMAC Bowl, so will UTEP.

Get a map and look at where El Paso is comapred to Mobile.
After 52,000 at the game today, it's a joke that the GMAC didn't take us.

does this mean no bowl for UCF? that seems kinda cold but that's the business these days.

Thanks, but I really don't need a map, KT (in fact, I was pretty good at geography in school). As for ticket sales, it'll sell out either way, mostly due to local support. UTEP has a great fan base as you well know, and although they may not have matched UCF's numbers, I suspect they'll bring a strong contingent. I think that they figured that you guys just coming out of the MAC on a down note took a bit away from the game. The nice thing is that at least you definitely will be in a bowl game........I'd take that anytime!

Here's an interesting item to ponder.
UTEP accepted a bowl bid to play a MAC team, rather than decline and be chosen to play in the Fort Worth Bowl against an opponent from the Big XII.
Who 'da thunk it?
(Wasn't it two years ago TCU dissed the GMAC to play at home?)

Here's an idea for a new thread.
Hawaii Bowl - Nobody there.
Can you believe all the low angle shots to avoid showing the empty seats?

I'm guessing Memphis to the Ft. Worth Bowl, but I would much rather see UCF. Ft. Worth bowl will have a big12 opponent though--probably Kansas or Missouri. At least it wont be Colorado.

Didn't the GMAC decide to take UTEP before knowing hte outcome of the Tulsa/UCF game? (at least that's what was reported over on the C-USA board I think). So, I'm not sure that you should look at it as the GMAC stiffing UCF....instead, they made a prior decision to go with UTEP for some reason. (i.e TV ratings maybe.......a more interesting match-up...who knows).

You drew 52,000 today after just under 23,000 a game.
UTEP averaged almost 48,000 per game.
If UCF took 25% of its average attendance to GMAC that would be almost 6,000. UTEP needs only 12% of its average attendance to do that.
