Tulsa just beat UCF in the championship game. I was rooting for the Golden Showers for a couple of reasons. First, it's good to see the former conference mates do well. Also, the loser will likely play the Rockets in the GMAC Bowl. I'd rather see the Rockets play Tulsa or Southern Miss just because it would be a new team. The GMAC Bowl will be like another MAC game if the Rockets play UCF.
You better get UCF now because that team will become as good if not better than the Louisville recent teams and grow from there.

That crowd of 50 K plus will be the norm not the exception. The enrollment @ UCF is the 8th largest in the NATION.
Logic dictates UCF to Mobile.

Prior to the game, sources speculated on UTEP being selected. You know, that Mike Price/'Bama thingy. But if the Knights are selected, it's:

Fresno State (WAC) vs Tulsa (4-8 last year as a WAC member)
Toledo (MAC) vs Central Florida (0-11 last year as a MAC member)

Obviously these two new CUSA teams are both much better than they were last year. Nevertheless, it would make for an interesting factoid.

Their new stadium will hold 42K.

They lose 3 in a row and it'll be business as usual. Maybe we can help with this in Mobile.

Connerito, are you a WMU grad or UCF?
UTEP has already accepted

Price can hit those strip clubs that he loves so much! ROLLLLLLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our new stadium with hold 45K and be expanable to 65-70K
Goldne Showers????

I thought you were talking about the first keystone of Temple's resurrgence being laid at Temple.

With D'Onofrio aboard too, we have quickly put two keys places in place to begin our much awaited return to respectability. Temple Football should be back and I hope you get what you wanted....a quality, sound FB team just in time for our MAC arrival

Strong allegiances to both.

UCF is the next school going to make the leap. They have a HUGE enrollment and they need 2-3 years of consistency to get it built up. Sure if they sway back next year, I don't believe that will happen ( they will replace Moffet) you will see attendance dwindle. But an on campus stadium, w/greater on campus housing, enrollment of 50K plus, I'd lay my bets they get it done.
Next year won't be a down or rebuilding year...

QB Moffet is a junior (should be a soph if you remember our last year in the MAC...but I digress)
WR Walker is a junior
RB Kevin Smith is C-USA freshman of the year
RB Jason Peters is a junior
CB Joe Burnett (had the punt return on Sat) is a freshman

Our offensive line has 0 seniors
Our defensive line has 1

Our 2005 schedule had 4 home games, our 2006 one will have 7.

Our 2006 OOC = @ Florida, USF, Pitt, Villanova. Will go 2-2 at worst, maybe 3-1.

Our opponants lose valuable players: Andre Hall (USF), Dustin Almond (USM), DeAngelo Williams (Memphis). I'm sure there are more...is Palko a senior?

This year we were ahead of schedule. 2006 was supposed to be the year of the winning record and the first ever bowl game. Now it is looking like it is the year that we aim to win the conference title.
UCF needs an upgrade at QB to make the jump. I'm sure they will recruit one this year.
UCF already received a verbal commitment from one of the top rated QBs in the country (a 4-star by Scout).

If there is one area UCF is completely fine at, it's QB.

First off, Moffett made HUGE strides this year. He was a damn good QB and I think he'll be GREAT next year.
Secondly, Kyle Israel was a highly recruited QB who chose UCF over FSU. He'll be very, very good as well.

Finally, UCF received a commitment from Terry Mayo......a 4 star recruit and ranked as the 39th best QB in the nation.

So, we should be OK!

Based on the performance you saw against Tulsa, I understand your sentiments. In fact, I think Kyle Israel may have done a better job for us. But if you had seen Moffet during the rest of the year, you wouldn't say that. He has learned when to tuck and run, and the coaches even taught him the stutter step and spin moves which work well for him. He is making much better decisions at the line as to when to audible and check out. Moffet against tulsa was a step backwards. He had better do well against Nevada because come spring time, he'll be getting competition from Terry Mayo.

Kyle Israel wasn't a really highly recruited QB. He was offered a greyshirt from FSU if he would enroll in January. He went with us instead. I still think that he would be a fine replacement when Moffett gets rattled. But I think in order not to destroy MOffet's confidence we left Steve in the game. I wish there was some way Kyle could get more snaps.

I agree, I think Leary saw the game was not going to be won late and didn't pull Moffet. You are right Moffet has made strides but one of the main reasons, besides the comp, they went ofer 04 was him. He has gotten better but nowhere near the player they need at that position. He wouldn't be in the top 8 in the MAC.

That being said UCF is a monster awaiting to explode w/in 2-3 years. Luckily they have the money to pay Leary and keep him there.
