This next comment is not to diminish Akron, but the MAC needs to move this game to saturday. It needs to be like MAC Basketball. The final play of this game reminded me of the Leon Williams tip in against buffalo.

Words cannot describe how I feel right now. Thanks to everyone for being so classy and congratulating our team. This is long overdue for the people of Akron. I think other MAC fans should just look at it this way: This championship is going to build a lot more MAC fans in NE Ohio. A stronger Akron is a stronger MAC. A different team winning the championship once in a while is definately a good thing for the conference.

Yea, I think so as long as MAC teams can start wining 2 to 3 out of conference games a year. Very exciting game to watch last night. Top notch effort by both teams!

I agree a strong presence in NE Ohio would strengthen the MAC considerably and boost our image.
Congrats Zips...Maybe this will help springboard the plans for the Stadium in Dowtown Akron..is that official anyways? if it is what year will you be in it?
In the case of the stadium there are varying degrees of official. The announcment has been made that it is officially in planning stages. What this means is still open for debate. Every source that comes out from administration to city planning board members though is consistent. It is not a matter of if it is going to happen it is a matter of when. That game last night can only help to springboard the process and get it moving. My only hope is that with all this time that we are planning on it that we are going to get it done right, but I have faith in Proenza and this administration. Never fear MAC, it won't be long before none of us will ever have to look at the Rubber Bowl again.
