Go NIU tomorrow! We need a big win!
Looks okay to me. My team, Central Michigan, gave up the bottom feeder position it held in the last ranking. I am hoping we can move up a couple more notches as the season progresses.

I hope we put up a good fight against the Blue Demons but none of us are sure how good we are just yet. Aurora was a good Div 3 team but it is unknown how we will do in real competition. It didn't start great but it is yet to be determined if that was a fluke or if we are that bad. As for high expectations, some of the magazines were optomistic(but we all know how accurate those magazines are when it comes to the MAC) but the real fans that watch and follow the team(with a few exceptions) were/are not sure if we are any good before the season started and still aren't.
Bobcats #1 and they acted like it. This was like an exhibition game for Ohio because it was over after 5 minutes thanks to Jeremy Fears. He had as many points as St. Francis did 10 minutes into the game. 6 steals by Troutman.......St. Francis had 11 turnovers in the first 9 minutes against the starting 5 of Ohio.
So Buffalo struggles against poor teams, and gets absolutely slaughtered by it's only top 10 opponent, while Miami beats the daylights out of Dayton and almost won at a top 15 team...yet Buffalo is ranked ahead of Miami? Huh?
My guess is that it has everything to do with the following:

1) It's early in the season, so it's almost impossible to say who is better among teams that both have the potential to do more.

2) Buffalo has 4 wins, Miami has 1.

3) He's a UB fan, so of course he's going to give us the benefit of the doubt.

4) You're an Ohio fan, so we hate you, and of course I'm going to disagree with everything you say. (Yes, that has everything to do with you beating us 3 times last year, and I'm still bitter. 03-razz )
These Power Rankings are great for discussion and even better for ticking people off. The season needs to play itself out and the spots will become more clear.

Just wait until January 26 and February 22...two more chances for you to beat us! heheheheheeh
YEAH!!! Well....wait until.....uhhhh......yeah, just wait!\

We're new at winning, so I'm not sure how to talk smack...sorry...

yeah it should be a fun year! a lot of close, tough contests! can't wait for the MAC season to begin!
Ohio and UB will be fine. UB has a solid starting five. Ohio main advantage is the depth in the backcourt. Ohio doesn't have a big drop in the second 5 like others at the guard positions or small forward. The frontcourt depth is the only concern for Ohio. If they had Hunter or Trent at PF this year, this team would be as good as Gonzaga. Tillman might be that guy by middle of next season, but he's a freshman and is out with mono. That's gonna make Ohio struggle against big front lines. The MAC doesn't have overwhelming depth inside, so Ohio can get away with a 6-6 210 pf next to Williams 6-8 245. Rhode Island, UC, and Kentucky are gonna give Ohio fits on the glass. The good news is that no pf in the MAC can matchup with Johnnie Jackson at the other end either, so it negates the size disadvantage. With Jackson, teams can't just play zone against Ohio to stop Williams. St. Francis and Mercyhurst did that and Ohio lit it up from outside. Fears improving his jumper will make the biggest difference. How Fears controls the tempo vs guards like Hatcher, Dials/Joyce, and Haynes will be key to.

I'm impressed if you said "St. Francis and Mercyhurst" with a straight face.
Bragging about anything against Mercyhurst and St. Francis should be banned from this board faster than Oddball with a political opinion. 03-wink
