A 1-9 team with no 1-A victories comes into pregame, goes to midfield, and stomps on the logo??? Did anyone else get to pregrame in time to see this? If the Zips were taking the game lightly before, giving Can't any chance of winning, they definately were pissed off after that. What a classless and flat out STUPID move by Can't. Heck, I'd be too embarrassed as a member of a pathetic team like that to go out and show any kind of cockiness to a team playing for a MAC Championship. I couldn't believe my eyes.
I unfortunatley was stuck in traffic trying to get into the bowl. I did however hear about it on the radio. I knew when I heard that I was in for a good day. Not a real smart move on Kents part, I know it was a rivalry game and all, but their best chance at a win was if the Zips weren't into the game and overlooked them. A stunt like that will assure you that they won't overlook it.
I didn't get to hear anything about it. I just heard parts of the game. That truly was idiotic and classless. They certainly got what they were asking for.
Well, I question the logic of using "Kent State players" and "thinking" in the same sentence. What's next, using the phrase "Kent State dominated" in a discussion of a football game?

I didn't see it, but I wonder if its a similar tradition to what BG does. After pre-game warm up, the punter boots a ball to an awaiting punt receiver (around mid-field). The team gathers around this person and sing Ay-Ziggy-Zoomba. It can appear that the intent of this ritual is to degrade the logo of the opposing team when it really isn't.

I believe there may be more to this than met your eye.
Saw the whole thing... Kent players were jumping up and dpwn on the logo at midfield... Zips were warming up and came to midfield.. shouting began... looked like might erupt but coaches on both sides stepped in..... Zips continued warm ups at another level and came out and took it to the Flushes......

Really not a smart move..... :withstupid:
Supid, Yes. Does anyone really think that it would make a difference? The only thing that makes this a rivalry is proximity. Kent is not competitive with Akron in football anymore. 8 of 9 bears that out...
Jess, you actually win something and all you do is ***** about your stupid looking kangaroo getting stomped on. Glad to see your obsession with Kent continues when their in last and your going to Mo-town.
Rightupinthere,
It's exactly the same thing. Teams do it all the time and rarely in a disrespectful way. But it makes for a good story when you beat a team.

If the Zips needed that to fire them up yesterday...
I did not see it but am not surprised. We have no team discipline and really are a bunch of losers. I have been a proud alumnus for for more than 24 years. I take winning and losing in stride, even though losing hurts a lot. I have no respect for this team and our coaching staff. When will we get leadership in the athletic department? I am sorry and I am sad. I am very sad that we have fans that accepts being cocky losers. I say that if you are good and you know that you can win, then it might be acceptable. But cocky losers ...... 03-banghead
