Phil gets his cast off next week and would be in position to start a bowl game if Joe gave him the nod. Who do you think should start? I say Dan. No question in my mind. I think that the NIU faithful would be in an uproar if Phil were to get the start after:

1. Finishing off CMU
2. Defeating Toledo
3. Winning the MACC (assuming we win)

I could see Joe putting Phil in for the game though. 03-banghead
I am as big of a Phil Horvath supporter as anyone, but Dan is the man. You hate to see a QB lose his starting position to injury, but Nicholson is the NIU QB of the future. Im not sure that Horvath will start another game at NIU, but the Huskies will be certainly blessed next year to have Horvath as the backup QB. Nicholson could go down with injury and by no means would the towel be thrown in on the season with such a good backup QB.

I would start Dan, but I don't know about Joe. For anybody (including Joe) that says you can't lose your job because of injury well see AJ Harris last year.

Do you mean as a starter or just to get some snaps after we open up a big lead over Akron?!

Starting at the Bowl game, not MACC.

We are talking about the bowl game because Phil won't be ready for that. Dan will start the MACC game.

P.S. Do we have the deepest depth at QB in the conference? Dan, Phil and Britt. I guess WMU was pretty deep before all the injuries. I can't think of any other team(but there might be 1 or 2). Not Toledo or BG because we saw what happened when their backups played.
Joe should and will start Danny. AJ lost his job to Garrett due to injury, and Phil lost his to Danny. It sucks, but is a part of the game.

Plus, if we start Phil, then our coaching staff is retarted, and I sure hope that isn't the case!
If Dan leads us to victory over Akron, there is absolutely NO WAY Phil would start in a bowl game.

Joe wants the best players on the field at every position and at QB, that player is Dan!

Maybe that will finally put to rest any ideas about politics and the Horvath family!
I dont think Horvath would be realistically ready for a bowl game anyway.
Phil is a nice kid but lets face it with Dan playing Qb the offense is all that more explosive. The other teams cannot just sit in there and stop the run. Dan sees the field better and even when flushed out the pocket he can get the ball to an open reciever quicker and with alot more accuracy. I agree with ROBERTN that Phil is a good QB to have as a backup. GO HUSKIES! 04-bow
I voted for Phil because the wind will not affect his passing, as we will be playing in a domed stadium. 03-wink
What about Britt? 03-wink
If Phil ever starts again over Nicholson then someone on the coaching staff if smoking something!
I do not believe we beat CMU, Toledo, and WMU with Phil in there.
Dan has schocked me. I would be very mad to see phil back out on the field with a healthy dan nicholson sitting on the side line. Dan just has so much better of an arm, and to me he seems even more mobile than phil was contrary to what Joe Novak had said in the beginning of the season. Not to mention Dan is younger, get him some playing time for when hes a senior out there, then we can start making signs that say "Nicholson for Heiseman" :D Thats a bit down the road though.

Not bashing Phil Horvath, just I think Dan Nicholson is amazing. Phil needs a bit of a stronger arm to win my vote.

Two Words "Garrett Wolfe". He singlehandedly one both Toledo and WMU. He is the best player in the MAC.

I agree. It's a huge step from getting a leg cast taken off to playing a football game. I've been there (with the cast, I mean).
Your kidding me right.

Phil has yet to beat a good D1 school.

Nicholson is the present and the future.

Sorry Phil - grab some bench!

Dan should be the starter, but Miami and Bg are not good D1 schools?

I'll give you BG last year - Miami couldn't even win a weak east division this year in a MAC that was down greatly from the past several seasons.

Perhaps, but other teams have to repect the long pass now, that was never the case before. We saw what happened when the safeties overcommitted on play action..Phil just can not make those passes.
