The rumor mill has GMAC bowl making an announcement regarding its MAC participant.
Did it happen after the WMU/MIU game?

Time to keep your ears to the news wire because this might be coming any minute.
The game isn't quite as early this year, is it? Anyway, with so much uncertainty in the MAC races, I wouldn't expect an announcement right away.
I don't think you are going to get an announcement just yet. I fully expect that the MCB and GMAC are working together in hopes to get the teams they want. GMAC seems to want Toledo and MCB seems to want NIU. However, they have to make sure that the East winner doesn't win the MACC Game first so they can't give out invites yet.

I think you're right about the bowls working together but actually I am inclined to believe you have the destinations reversed.

GMAC has never played host to either NIU or UT so they are probably ok with either (despite showing early interest in Toledo) and MCB would want a football starved Toledo fanbase who had to go without for over a month due to fluke MACC absence.
I went Minn bowl game in Nashville & they had 1,000 people their, MCB would need Toledo. GMAC would settle MAC champ No Ill. On flip side, Akron would solve hotel promblem in Mobile.

According to Chicago Newspaper reports, MCB will take NIU only with an NIU win at the MACC, otherwise the MCB will take Toledo, with MAC champ to GMAC.

Bowl bid far from certain for Huskies

DEKALB — Smiling Motor City Bowl representatives Ken Hoffman and Turf Kauffman handed out lapel pins to several Northern Illinois coaches and players after Wednesday’s 42-7 win over Western Michigan.

But if the Huskies don’t follow up that victory with another one in the MAC championship game Dec. 1, then don’t expect Hoffman and Kauffman to follow up those pins with a Motor City Bowl bid.

“Most likely, with some things that still to play out,
GMAC could take NIU right now if they wanted. That hasn't happened (not sure why) but I am guessing that it is because the MCB REALLY wants us. I have seen the MCB reps with Rick Chryst at our last two games. No GMAC reps in sight.
