Do you think Akron or BG has a better shot? If NIU wins then most likley Toledo will go to the second available bowl.
*Edit: Crap forgot to make it a pole 03-banghead
BG has the better chance.

UA's win over NIU earlier this year was a fluke.

I would have to agree with you. Correct me if I'm wrong but NIU didnt have GW in that game did you.

We did, but our D couldn't tackle and definitely didn't play anything like it did the last two games. Garrett got shut down running the ball, and with the way we were giving up points on D, we had to throw all day long (Horvath had a career game - 486 yds and 6TDs).

But we've been inconsistent this year, and seem to have put it together in the most important games of the year.
Akron deserves a shot at the championship. They beat NIU earlier in the year and BG at their place. Why would people not give the Zips the nod for winning the championships. Akron is playing a 1 win Kent team at Akron. I can't wait for the game tomorrow!

Go Zips!!!
Who has a better chance? Neither. I think the East team should forfeit and mail it in. Game over. The West was 14-4 vs the East this year. Akron's win earlier was a fluke and won't be duplicated. BG's defense is at least as suspect as WMU's was today. NIU is the class of the MAC this year. Congrats, Huskies.

I agree. The east will probably not match up to the west for years to come. They may win one once in a while but the Win - loss will be lopsided in favor of the west.

you guys have football; we have basketball!
I think BG is a really excellent team this season.

I thought they had that Wisconsin game until the D imploded but the offense still kept it close.

Wolfe seems similar to Calhoun from Wisconsin so that could present a problem.

When they lose some of their senior talent it looks like they have guys ready to step in. Especially at receiver.
The answer is easy.

Akron has the better chance. Akron will get to Detroit and play in the MAC championship game.

BG won't. :D

Only Kent stands in Akron's way. However, the only way I will think Kent will beat Akron would be if I smoked the same crack Kenny Williams smoked when he made that Thome trade today.

I gotta believe he is right.

BG can't have a better chance at defeating NIU if they never step foot on the same playing field.
NIU will roll right over Akron...>>BG would give 'em a fight.
Funny, I don't remember our win being a fluke whenever NIU fans were contemplating mass suicide on their board and calling for their coach's head for a week or so afterwards. I guess I must have missed it.
Akron "should" win. But I wouldn't be surprised if KSU actually made it a tight game with them tomorrow. Seriously.

yeah i agree.

akron will be tight while kent state will be loose and looking to make their season with the upset. i can definitely see akron choke this one away.
No way does Akron loose this game. Think about it. It is going to be cold and windy tomorow. Perfect weather for running the football. Kent is about the most pathetic team in IA ball when it comes to the running game. Not only that but their defense is so banged up in the run defender department that they have a hard time stopping the run. Akron on the other hand was able to run at will on OU who has a pretty decent run defense just last week. No way does Kent win this one. If we come out tight they could give us some qualms in the early going, but the better team will come out on top in this one.
If I were a NIU fan, I would be rooting like mad to see us in the MACC. That's a guaranteed win for them with our less than stellar team.

We better not choke tomorrow. I can easily see it happen with gittery Luke Getsy under center. 03-banghead
Our boys are chomping at the bit for another shot at the Zips.

I had to listen to the first game on the radio, but it sounded like Getsy was a Heisman trophy winner that game. 03-banghead

Here's hoping our 'D' continues it's recent level of play. I think they will, they smell blood now.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. DO NOT WRITE US OFF IN THE MAC CHAMPIONSHIP. Remember, we are about the only team all year that has shut down Wolfe. And that was even early in the game when you guys were up by two scores. Our pass defense sucked during the second half of that game, but they are much improved. Presuming we beat Kent tomorow (and I mean, come on, you guys really think the flushes have a shot???) Garret Wolfe better get real used to the name Jay Rohr. He's gonna be getting hit by him all night long next Thursday.
