I don’t know if any of you were on campus today, but those lovable hillbillies from down south did a little spray painting in the flatlands. It was mainly on the spirit rock and around it, but they sprayed things like Tom is fat, Bruce is a fag, and slUT.
On a lighter note when I was in the student union today there was a kid wearing a BG hat. Someone didn’t like that he was wearing the hat on campus, so they took it off his head, stepped on it then proceeded to throw it down the stairs. The best part is what the kid said “Hay! My Mom bought me that hat
That is totally unacceptable. The guy with the BG cap should have been taken outside and tied to the spirit rock naked. What a Momma's boy.
Speaking of momma's boys Chicago, you're letting him off a little light if you just want him tied naked to the rock. A real man would spray paint him Midnight Blue and Gold. :D Actually if you check out the AZZ board you will find that UT struck first in the battle of the rocks, in spite of preemptive efforts by some falcon fans. All in good fun I guess but don't mess with people's personal stuff I say. I know, I know, now who's the momma's boy?

As someone who has publicly vowed to stay out of the typical BG-UT flame stuff ...
I never really cared much about the whole rock thing. I mean, it's a rock. What the heck does it have to do with team spirit?
GlassBowl9, if you're accurately describing what the alleged BG fans scrawled, that's weak on their part. I'd like to think people can be more creative than "Amstutz is fat" or "BG has no trees," although I'll also say that calling BG students hillbillies is odd on two fronts - 1) a rather large number of students come from Cleveland and its suburbs; 2) you'll have to be the first to admit that "hill" and "BG" aren't synonymous (except for Bill's Hill) of course.
In regard to the hat thing, maybe it's my brown & orange glasses, but isn't throwing someone's hat down the steps awfully childish? Why not just play keep away with it or steal his milk money?

Lots of childish things happen, but if someone is stupid enough to wear a BG hat on the UT campus during Rivalry Week (or a UT hat on the BG campus for that matter), then they should expect something like that to happen. In fact, they are just asking for trouble in that case.
It doesn't take an einstein to realize that it is pretty stupid to wear the main rivals hat on their campus the day before the big game.
Palease!! Have you been to AZZ lately? I admire your civility, but friends don't let friends go to BG.
BTW, I have taken online courses before and they can be the biggest pain in the AZZ.

I took two classes online last Spring to finish up my degree. The did an upgrade to the online (Distance Learning) area at UT and I thought it went pretty good. For me it sure beat having to go to class and always have a certain time and days of the week that I had to be available.
I agree with 87 here. I don't think that it is right to take the little sleazeball's hat and throw it down the stairs. I do appreciate the Rocket fan's enthusiasm, but I still have to feel bad for the BG fan. :(

As you probably know, I have been accused of "sleeping with the enemy" because I post here. And if you visit AZZ regularly, you know I've publicly stated I'm stepping out of the flame wars.
Part of what prompted me to write that blog piece was what I viewed as poor behavior on boths sides last year. I still see some, on both sides, this year and it still makes me shake my head. I'm on AZZ.com a lot and, yes, it has gotten pretty ugly in spots. I don't condone it, but I can't stop it, either.

Judging by the IC, I doubt the kid knew it was BG/UT week. Lots of UT students probably don't know these two teams are playing tomorrow night.

It's appreciated, because most BG fans like to think of themselves as Miami, and UT as Owens. Except for RWT who is Owen's and thinks that he is BG.

My friend goes to UT and he owns a BG hat that he asked for (I bought it for him). He's a rocket football fan and a BG hockey fan.
Personal property is something completely seperate from a rock, and I would have hoped you guys would condone that sort of action. Yes, people on this campus do wear UT gear, and no, we don't rip it off them and stomp on it. 87 said it best, childish at most.

I don't condone BG students last driving there truck or whatever through centenial mall last year before the game and did about $2,000 in damage. Pay backs are a *****, both on and off the football field.

I can remember back in the early 80's when I was at UT. Kids from BG got ahold of a UT letter jacket in the stands and played keepaway. Idiots will be idiots. It's a good way to end up with a broken nose or in jail. That's why I avoid student sections at any game.
