Repeat after me...

1. This team still needs to gel
2. Early season losses are not terrrible because,
3. MAC schools DO NOT get at large bids
4. We are building to the MAC tourney in March
5. Enjoy the ride and
6. GO FLASHES! 04-rock
7. Defense, Defense, Defense !!!
8. We are not one of the teams with a huge target on our back.
9. As this season progresses we will find depth somewhere off our bench.
10. If all goes well we will peak in March.
11. Beat the "zips". :chair:
Quote:11. Beat the "zips".

This will still be difficult, but not as tough as a few days ago. According to yesterday's Beacon Journal, Woods will "probably" not play this year and the NCAA has not cleared their prize recruit, Conyers, to play or practice due to "transcipt problems." http://www.ohio.com/mld/ohio/sports/colleg...on/13216901.htm

12. Points in the paint count, too.
13. All starters need to stay healthy.
14. Bench needs minutes in early games, even if it costs us a few. They need to develop for the stretch.
15. It's a looong season.
Really simple:

When DeAndre Haynes blows by a defender and heads into the lane with one opponent and one KSU player, those turn into 2 points somehow.

Last year, it seemed that we had the opposing defender coming over, forcing a wild shot, and the KSU player would occasionally get the offensive rebound and put-back. More often, it ended up in nothing (turnover, lost rebound, etc.)

It's got to be more consistant. Either DeAndre makes the lay-up or passes off for the easy 2.

To me, that is the single key that will make the difference between a moderately and highly effective offense.
Here we go! Can't wait till tonight. I hope the students show up
16. Our "D" will be fine down low. What about out by three pt. line ?
17. Nate, Kevin and DeAndre will all have big years.
18. During a timeout or halftime will our coaching staff make positive adjustments.
19. Defend the MAC Center
20. Atttack the glass with a vengeance. 04-drinky

These early crowds will be ok, but we really don't seem to fill up until after the holiday break when the MAC portion of the sched. starts.
21. Youngblood needs to show he is quicker as he moves to small forward.
22. Play Warz and Gerwig together as much as possible. Warz will force teams to defend him on the perimeter- Gerwig can fight for position inside.
23. When all is said and done, the three keys might be Haynes, Haynes and Haynes.
24. The combination of J.O.'s experience and R.S.'s knowledge of the MAC is a beatutful thing on the bench.
25. All the playing time for Armon Gates last year will play off this year.
26. Improved outside shooting.

For several years, it seemed like we could count on KSU being among the best three point shooting teams in the country, but it really fell off last year, especially late. I hope Haynes' work on his shot pays off, that Gates can heat it up a bit, and that we can get contributions from McKee off the bench. That should open things up inside.
I'm all thought out on this topic, to tell the truth. Just waiting impatiently for tip-off!

Remember # 15, it's a looong season.
Thoroughly outplayed by a REALLY hungry team. I guess talk is cheap.
