Miami/BG get to play on national TV for what, an hour? Even without the bad weather, what if its 35-35 with four minutes left at 10 p.m. EST? ESPN2 goes to the UCLA-NMSU game anyway. What a cost to be on national TV for an hour. This ESPN stuff has to stop. We will have 10,000 people in DeKalb, maybe, next Wednesday. Akron had maybe 1,000 there tonight. Miami has trouble drawing 13,000 on Saturdays. The game tomorrow in Toledo is the first road game I've missed in years. This is terrible.
Yeah, I'm steamed too. For those unaware, the rest of America outside of Ohio was yanked to the UCLA-NMSU basketball game at 10:15, and ESPN chose to stay with poker on regular ESPN.

It's a slap in the face of football fans.
agree. Tuesday freaking night on ESPNU?? I could understand one of the main networks - Ohio and Akron should have been playing Saturday.

Congrats Zips. At least one team bothered to f**king show up.
Mid-November weather busted my TV viewing for the evening. I was all set to watch BG-Miami. Instead I got to see one hour of an Ohio-Akron scrimmage in front of a library, a glimpse of BG-Miami, and a basketball yawner from 3 time zones away. Ouch.

The conference rolled the dice, but it is/was a tough night for the MAC tonight. Mother Nature had other plans.
Well put NIU70. You should let the AD know about scheduling for ESPN on weekdays and then how they may not even show the game on TV.
Mid-week football is bush league. It sets us back more than it progresses us. It has to stop. Now.

This seems to be always on lately. I must be missing the boat. Is watching card-playing on TV really that popular? Am I the only one who gets painfully bored watching more than a few minutes of poker?

I live in Columbus, Ohio but I wasn't able to see the game either. They took my coverage out to UCLA too.

I'm not sure about this. I think it's just a gamble where sometimes we win, and sometimes we lose. Maybe it's not such a good idea to have so many this late in the year. I dunno.

I recall watching a number of mid-week MAC matchups that were in front of great crowds and - when played early in the season - in nicer weather.
Are you freaking kidding me? They said all of Ohio would get to stay on. That is outlandish.

Poker has become a massive fad, Motown. Magazines and TV shows of all kinds. All stemming from ESPN's coverage of this tournament.

Here's the biggest joke. The 10pm episode of the poker show was a RERUN of the 9pm episode. That's right, Rick Chryst, two of your better teams got booted from the airwaves for a pre-season NIT clash and a rerun of a poker show that had just aired in the hour before!!!

No legitimate conference plays mid-week. So immediately you are conceding you are small time.

More importantly, though, the best part of college football is the pagentry and partying. Mid-week football dramatically cuts back the number of alums who can come back, the number of visiting fans who can travel, etc. It defeats what makes college football great.

It's got to stop. Tonight in Akron was a thorough embarassment, and next week in Athens won't be much better.
No, you're not the only one. Cards are for the guys around the kitchen table when the wife and kids are at the in-laws. Watching it on TV is the equivalent of scratching my balls.
yeah i agree with Motown Bronco in that mid-week games are not a bad thing. you know what they say...there is no such thing as bad publicity.
Here's a freakin' fact. Mid-week football I don't have a beef with. I looked forward to the game tonight. Even planned to stay watching until the wee hours.

But mid-week football in Oxford, Ohio needs to be rethought. Correct me if I am wrong, but I can seem to think of a game from the last three years that has been weather-delayed/affected at Miami.

There was the Marshall gale-force game
Season opener with Indiana State where the stadium was cleared
Tonight's game.
I seem to recall poor weather with the election night game last year, though I don't know if weather was involved.

I'm certainly not blaming Miami, but does this happen with such frequency at other locations?
I got the U. Miami is playing like a pee wee football team tonite. -10 yards, 4 turnovers, and 3 safteys given up in one half. Miami couldn't beat Temple, Buffalo, or Kent with that half. The stands are empty too. Miami has no bowl chance with that first half.
Miami and Ohio for third place next Monday. Hope Miami plays just like the way they played the first half.
Not sure if ESPN has anything to do with it, but I think they should've postponed this mess.......ridiculous starting a game that late after the players sat around for a couple of hours...obviously the fans went home (not knowing when and if the game would ever start), and there's no home field advantage to boot. Then, you've got these kids playing past midnight on a completely sh!tty night. What a debacle.
That does suck that they changed to the bball. I was able to see both b/c of directv, but unfortunately, not everyone can do that..
They did mention on the tube that it couldn't be moved to the weekend because they both have early week games coming up. BG plays, when, Tuesday? Then MAC title game, not sure when they could have moved tonight's game until.
Still sucks......not a surprise that Miam came out flat (to put it mildly) after the stands were emptied of fans.........
bowling green faced the same empty stands. they weren't flat.
