UB won its first MAC road game EVER, its first road game in several years, and its first game of the season. It also outscored the soccer team this weekend 10 to 6, with one game remaining for the soccer team.

So lets talk about basketball!!!! 04-rock

Saw the Bulls take on Gannon last night. I grew up in Erie, Pa., and my wife has a masters from Gannon. When UB was Div II, it was actually in the same league as Gannon at one point. (I wonder if they still play in the Hammermill Center since Hammermill Paper left town?)

Gannon is usually a pretty good Div II program. They were picked a preseason 2nd in their division. (Ohio fans- note the team pciked to finish last in the Southern division)

The Bulls looked great. Won by 31 points. Shot 62% from the field. Forced 26 turnovers. The veterans played like veterans. I thought the freshmen looked good. In fact, one freshman started, Greg Gamble from Niagara Falls. Mario Jordan came off the bench and was the leading scorer. I'm wondering if Reggie is planning to use him similarly to what he did with Bortz last year- bring him in off the bench for a spark?

I'm now officially psyched for the home opener against cross-town rival, Canisius. I was wondering if the Bulls would be rebuilding or reloading this year. Wtih the talent coming back (Cage, Middleton, Idbihi, Parnell Smith) and from what I saw of the freshmen, they'll be in the thick of things this year.

By coincidence, the Buff News also had their preseason analysis of the Bulls in today's paper.

Thanks for the update. It's hard to figure out if UB hoops are going to be any good this year? At least they took care of a D-II school handily. I think Canisius will be a tough game for them. It always is.
