Ball State opened it's basketball season with a 66-43 exhibition victory over Saganaw Valley State (coached by former Cardinal point guard Jamie Matthews). JC transfer junior Chris Ames led 4 players in double figures with 16 points (6-9 FG, 4-6 FT, 5 RB, 6 steals) and a lot of energy. Skip Mills added 15 points, Ohio State transfer Charles Bass added 12 points and plenty of blocks and boards, JC transfer junior D'Andre Peyton scored 11, and Peyton Stovall added 8 points in 30 minutes of action. An impressive D effort led to 28 turnovers by SVS, including 13 Cardinal steals, and 28% shooting for the visitors.

04-rock It's finally b-ball season!!!
And Grand Valley State was no slouch either. I was shocked at how athletic, physical, and big that team was. They lost to EMU by 8 and Detroit by 12 earlier in the week.

I really like the athleticism and spunk of BSU's team this year. We still might be a year away from being top notch, but we're going to be pretty good this year anyway, despite the lack of experience.
Any idea what was up with Howland and Kent not playing until late?

Great sports day! Back to back games on the radio (with the unbelievable football comeback). Wish I could make it up to Muncie next weekend for the b-ball/f-ball doubleheader!!!
nm. I saw on the BSUFANS site that Tim said on the post-game that they both had bad practice weeks.
