question for BG fans...just curious what your opinion of this guy is...I mean he LEFT you high and dry-then comes back and really has'nt done much. Nothing like being someones #2...that has got to hurt recruiting ( I certainly would'nt commit to a guy who is 100% non-committal to his own program) anyway what is the vibe about him and his future at BG?
I think damn jock itch and Trev Alberts are brothers.
A lot of people are down on Dakich. I suppose I would do if I lived and died with Falcon basketball. His recruiting has been less than world class, and the rap on him is that the players he does manage to bring in often end up leaving the program.

I like that sumbitch, though. He's a good guy. He runs a clean program. He's won a MAC title.

I should probably let Falcon basketball fans weigh in. I'm just not a hoops junkie. Never have been.

I think he's a good coach. Was a huge fan of IU growing up - he was scrappy, hard-working. Hope he stays at BG.

So do I... :D
Who else wears their coat inside out? Dikitch, the coach we love to hate.
To quote the immortal Lee Elia, any self-respecting Ball State fan would tell Mr. Dakich to "kiss my a$$ right downtown...and print it!"

I'll enjoy watching his team get thumped in Muncie again this year.
BGSU hasn't been to the dance since 1968. This is his 9th year at BG 134-103, if my numbers are correct. Those numbers are pretty good by MAC standards. He's had some bad luck with key injuries. The only real knock against him is his MAC Tournament record.

Larry Hunter had the same problem with Ohio. Post season can define a coach. 1 NCAA trip in 10 years sealed his fate. Dakich and Joplin are winning coaches, put they have zero NCAA trips combined. Ohio had a difficult decision 5 years ago. BGSU and Toledo may be nearing the same decision after this season.

Indeed, now if only Hipsher would come back to UA the all would be right with the world.

Pretty close. This is how Dakich stacks up against the other BGSU coaches that lasted at least three seasons:

Harold Anderson (1942-63): 367-193 (.655)
Dan Dakich (1997-present) 134-101 (.570)
Jim Larranaga (1986-97) 170-144 (.541)
Paul Landis (1925-42) 156-133 (.540)
John Weinert (1976-86) 146-133 (.523)
Pat Haley (1971-76) 62-69 (.473)
Warren Scholler (1963-67) 43-52 (.453)
Bob Conibear (1968-71) 31-42 (.425)
F.G. Beyerman (1915-21) 24-38 (.387)

Not bad.

I dug out that list because, at first, I thought you were measuring him against BG standards (and implying something about those standards). Over the long haul, BG has done fairly well, despite the snakebite we have come tournament time.
