REPORT FROM TOLEDOBLADE.

UT and CMU are virtually tied for first in MAC with most penalties (72) and (646 yds) over nine games .

16 personal fouls PLUS 5 major infractions such as roughing the passer and 15 yd face masks...

UT had 3 dead ball fouls vrs Ohio last week .

IT'S GOOD TO KNOW WHAT WE ARE GONNA BE DEALING WITH IN THEIR HOUSE.

Will Chryst be watching from the booth?
Aggressive play will get you these penalties and wins. We're not here to be nice and play grab azz, we're hear to win championships.
Toledo has been the dirtiest team in the MAC for as long as I can remember. Like hitting Leftwich hard in the MACC game on a pick when he couldn't even walk right. Nice sportsmanship. They threw a flag on that one.

So was Marshall.
and then the nation had an opportunity to watch them lose it completely in, was it, the 2003 bowl game.
...and Mu moved on and you still haven't won a MACC.

We weren't in a bowl in 2003, but we still be you guys 03-wink

Actually it was a clean block. The ball was intercepted and according to the rulebook you are allowed to make a clean block during the return. The ball was still in play and it was a clean block.

I am sure there are two reasons the call was made.......the game was at Marshall and Leftwich was playing hurt. However, according to the rule book it was a clean hit.

Now, as for those penalties against Ohio. One was a celebration penalty and the replay showed that he hardly did any celebration. Now the official call was unsportsmanlike conduct, but it was an excessive celebration penalty. Two other personal fouls on Toledo were offsetting, called on both UT and OU. They were for shoving and pushing on the block after the whistle blew. Point is, both teams were called for it because they were both doing it. Other times you see that kind of thing happen and nothing is called.

As for some roughing the passer and late hit penalties, an aggressive defense will get called for some of those penalties. It doesn't mean a team is dirty. Ohio was called for 1 roughing the passer and 1 late hit out of bounds against us, on top of the two personal fouls that were offsetting with Toledo calls. I don't think they played dirty because of it though. They knew they were playing a good offense and because of that they were playing aggressive. It happens.

Now what is dirty is when the hit is WAY late. Or like the punching incident in the 2002 MCB. That was uncalled for. It was also 3 years ago.

Sure HMM whatever you say bro. The flagS that were thrown on the play were against the Marshall Olineman and Lantz Juedy from the Rockets. David Gardner the player that popped Leftwich during the play recieved no penalty for playing football. The Marshall Olinaman that hit Gardner after the play was over was penalized and ejected and same happened to Juedy who came to the defense of Gardner.

I remember that play and that game well, because I was there. It was called the Mac championship game, someday you Salukis might be able to watch your team play in one. 03-lol I tired really hard to keep a straight face for that last comment. 03-lol
You Rocket fans sure are a cocky bunch, even though you constantly get embarrased by non MAC teams.....yes, NIU hasn't been to the MACC, but we will, and when we do you will have nothing negative to say about us.....However, you will still be contending (and winning) MAC chanpionships even though you get pummeled by teams like Kansas, Minnesota, Uconn, and Fresno State. Maybe your dirty play doesn't work against teams outside the MAC

Well thank you for correcting me on that one. Doesn't matter if it was a penalty or not, it was a dirty play and bad sportsmanship by your player.

I can say that your team has cleaned up their act a bit since then.

It was dirty because??? Byron was hurt and had no business playing in the game to begin with??

So if Wolfe comes back for the Toledo game but is still injured, make sure that Joe lets the refs and the Toledo coaches know about it okay? That way it can just be two hand tap for Wolfe.
If Wolfe is in the game, two hand tap is probably all you'll be able to get on him.

I think AJ will have something to say about that.
AJ is no Garrett Wolfe.

We beat 9th ranked Pittsburgh in 2003. So much for that theory of yours. 03-wink

If it was a clean hit and not illegal according to the rule book, how is it a dirty play?

All I remember from the play is the hit that BL took from the Toledo player and not believing what I had just seen. To me it didn't seem right even though it was within the rules of the game and I did understand that at the time. Maybe my morals are different than others, but I also don't play the game and haven't been in that situation either.

Yes please, maybe we can hang a couple flags from Wolfe or play a little 2 hand touch. Would probably be easier for your boys to "take him down" that way.

...and like Toledo, they play the game ethically and with great sportsmanship. 03-lol

When we do win the MACC, at least we'll do it the right way.
