Thanks for the updates BR!
I know that Brian Jones was a JUCO transfer but regardless of position, UT doesn't seem to have done that well with JUCOs the last few years.
Good point...lately, our JUCO's never make the field.

What's the story on the WR, Nicholls? Has he had difficulty learning the offense (ala Hatchett from last year)? He seems to have the size and speed to be a solid contributor. I expected him to play right away. Anyone have any insight?
I have no answer on the Nichols question. He is one of them that I was talking about. He still has another year left, so I hope that I don't sound like I'm writing him off, but I thought he was going to see significant playing time this year also. The two JUCOs that I remember doing well at UT were Brian Jones and Lance Jeudy (I think he was JUCO). I forgot about Michael Chamberlain. He's doing very well as a Rocket. I do think that those are the only three that have done well though. Somebody correct me if I'm missing any.

Also, Tampa, how big are the playbooks generally? I've heard some crazy figures in terms of pages but I don't know how accurate they are.
Kenny Higgins did a nice job last year.
Our offense is pretty complex. That is part of the reason why our young receivers have struggled at times.....there is a lot to remember.

That is why Kenny Higgins didn't play a lot in his first year with the program in 2003. He had a great year in 2004 though. I expect that Nichols will be in the same position next year in his 2nd season with the team.
If I remember correctly RR, the playbooks were pretty large in size. Remember though, I played for Simrell, Pinkle and Saban...not exactly the most offensive minded coaches out there. I'm sure that the system is much more intricate now. Especially with receivers...they need to know not only the route, but the hot reads on blitzes and adjustments to make depending on the coverages. It is all pretty complicated...lineman have to make the correct blocking calls and recognize the defensive fronts that they are going up against. Defense is where it is at...you still have schemes and areas of responsibility, but you can cover your lack of knowledge with athletic ability and aggression.
