AMHERST, N.Y. -- University at Buffalo's Jim Hofher, coach of the nation's perennially worst Division I-A football program, has been fired according to a published report.
Athletic department spokesman Paul Vecchio declined to comment on a report Tuesday in The Buffalo News, but said a news conference had been scheduled for late morning.
Hofher was fired Monday, but is expected to coach in the Bulls' final two games, the newspaper said without citing a source.
The move comes after the Bulls (0-9) dropped their 10th straight game dating to last season, losing 54-13 at Miami (Ohio) on Saturday.
Hofher has a 7-48 record in five seasons at Buffalo with a year remaining on his contract. His best season was his first, when Buffalo went 3-8. The Bulls are 9-68 since joining the Mid-American Conference.
