AMHERST, N.Y. -- University at Buffalo's Jim Hofher, coach of the nation's perennially worst Division I-A football program, has been fired according to a published report.

Athletic department spokesman Paul Vecchio declined to comment on a report Tuesday in The Buffalo News, but said a news conference had been scheduled for late morning.

Hofher was fired Monday, but is expected to coach in the Bulls' final two games, the newspaper said without citing a source.

The move comes after the Bulls (0-9) dropped their 10th straight game dating to last season, losing 54-13 at Miami (Ohio) on Saturday.

Hofher has a 7-48 record in five seasons at Buffalo with a year remaining on his contract. His best season was his first, when Buffalo went 3-8. The Bulls are 9-68 since joining the Mid-American Conference.

Ouch! I knew they were bad but I had no idea they were THIS bad! I remember going to ISU football games when I was little and I specifically remember Buffalo handing it to them. Buffalo used to be a pretty dominant Div. 1AA team back in the early-mid 90's weren't they?
Even more odd is looking to this weekend's games. They are 7.5 dawgs at Kent , but I was and still am pickin' them to win.

I trust/hope NIU is not one of the nine MAC wins for UB but BGSU is.

Like in hoops at Buffalo, the right man may be able to work wonders. It definately takes alot longer than bball. Do they have much coming back next season? Would any Solich type higher profile coach dumped later this year be tempted to take the offer? Bob Davie?

Who would win a game between Temple & UB game this season?

Will they again be one of our crossover games next season? Who else is left in East we have not played in recent seasons?
Homework submitted for final grade.

UB intermittent record 1994 - 2004

94 3-8 .... L ISU 17-7 ..... L WIU 49-7 ..... L CFU 48-0

95 3-8 .....W ISU 19-6

96 8-3..... W ISU 41-35

97 2-9..... L ISU 40-25...

> ...more of same old same old...<

01 beat Army, Ohio and UConn

02 1-11 beat Rutgers

03 1-11 beat Ohio

04 2-9 beat CFU and CMU.

I found little indication of UB making much noise in 1-AA from 1980's
on.

80-93 seasons W/L:

6-5, 5-5, 8-2, 6-4, 4-6 ,9-2, 3-7, 2-8, 4-6, 2-8, 3-7, 4-6,
2-9, and 3-8
The Buffalo Bulls are the L.A. Clippers of the MAC....
Except the Bulls don't even get high draft picks for their lack of performance.
