Rockets pull away late from a game but undermanned Ohio team. UT dared Bobcats to throw the ball early - and they didn't for the most of the second and third quarters going three and out several times.

Underneath passes to TDawson, his running after the catch and play of GradK was the difference -again. How the F did CMU contain Rocket running attack which looked strong tonite?

Why is it we make UT look good while others struggle yet make them work for the win?

Tonite I think we could have beaten them.
___________
Stadium looked 75% full with having capacity = 24,000 - yet broadcasters called it a sell out. Decent turnout by rocket fans and band.

Contrary to many posts here, I get a kick outta ToledoTom. He is almost a cartoon like character of a football coach but he does know his team and takes alot of risks winning more than he loses those gambles. Up 27-21 with six minutes remaining and a fourth and one at midfield, UT goes for first down rather than punting and makes it .
We had a hard time inside the Ohio 10 yard line and kicked 3 field goals when we should have got at least 1 or 2 TD's instead. Another time late in the game we were just running the clock out and pinning them deep and got stoped on 4th down at the Ohio 1 yard line. We scored 30 points, but could have had at least 38 points if we could just execute a little better inside the opponent's 10 yard line.

Telling stats in the game:

Total Offense
Toledo 529
Ohio 293

Rushing Yards
Toledo 293
Ohio 146

Trinity Dawson - 28 rushes for 167 yards and 3 receptions for 43 yards and 2 TD's.

Bruce Gradkowski - 19 of 24 for 195 yards and 1 TD in the 1st half........22 of 31 for 236 yards and 2 TD's for the game. 5 rushes for 51 yards and 1 TD, giving him 287 all-purpose yards and 3 total touchdowns.

Ohio RB Kalvan McRae came in averaging over 250 yards rushing in each of the last two games. Tonight, just 114 yards rushing.

This game was dominated by Toledo, but problems scoring touchdowns inside Ohio's 10 yard line made it a bit of a close game.
While Toledo did dominate, they were one yard away from their second straight loss I believe. On 4th and 1 at the 50, up by only 6 points with 8 mins left, they went for it and got it. If they didn't get that it could have been pretty interesting.... I want to see one of those calls bite Amstutz in the ******.
other than Dawson Toledo didnt look very good
I don't know with almost 600 yards of offense it's hard to say they didn't look very good. I think it may have been one of those games were it wasn't as close as the score indicated. I didn't watch the entire game, but it looked to me like Toledo was in control. Dawson is probably Toledo's biggest offensive threat and the rest of the offense is doing there thing. If you took Garrett Wolfe out of the Huskie offense, they'd be pretty average too.

Until NIU can beat Toledo we have to look at them as the standard. I think there still pretty good even after losing last week. That game should have gone to OT if the pass on the last play was a foot lower, or the WR could have held on to it.

Maybe some of the Toledo faithful can comment to this, but is Gradkowski still feeling some of the effects of the injury last year. I'm not a doctor, but Kurt Warner sure looked like a different QB after he had a hand injury. I don't know if their injuries were similar or not, but to favor a hand or not have all your strength in it has to effect your ability to throw the ball. Could it be one of those injuries where it takes a couple of years to fully recover.

Regardless, let's hope the Dogs can get a W today and then I guess WWIII will be less than two weeks away. Hell NIU has to win sometime why not this year.

How do you put up about 530 yards in total offense and only one player looks good?

Bruce was 22 for 31 (71%) 236 yds 1 INT 2 TDs
He ran 6 times for net 51 yds, an 8.5 yds average.
He must really still be hurting. Image if the Rocket receivers hadn't dropped several passes.

BTW "Go Huskies!!!" 04-bow 04-bow 04-bow

You need to start passing out that stuff your smoking. See you puppies on the 16th. Just beat CMU today first, please!
Toledo looked fine - Ohio pulled everything out on O, and just in general isn't very good.
I guess if you put up all those yards I was expecting more production(points)
Toledo really needed to step it up in the RZ. Againt good teams Fgs inside the five will kill you.

Same reason we were in a position to get beat by UT at home in '02 - long, time-consuming drives that resulted in FGs instead of TDs.

I'm pretty sure that he was talking about UT @ CMU.
