Toledo - CMU 12,801
Ohio- Buffalo 5,814
KSU - WMU 14,168
Akron - BG 9,608
Ball St. - NIU 18,732
Miami - Temple 11,257

I'm curious as to why the Toledo- Central Michigan game only got that many?? Was it b/c of tv? It looked like a nice day to see a game, a quality opponent, and first place on the line.. Why?

Buffalo's was to be expected.

Western's was strong, but wasn't it HC? Maybe higher with a stronger opponent.

Bg's was quite low. Might not be getting any larger now.

NIu's was good, but I know that they have been drawing more. Perhaps the opponent again?

Temple's was bad, but not as bad as I would have thought. Did Miami have a lot of fans go?
As I mentioned elsewhere, with few exceptions (like a rivalry game) the trend seems to be that attendance shows a steady, slow decline throughout the course of the season, regardless of weather.

My hunch is that many students and alumns do check out what's going on at the local stadium once or twice in September, but eventually return to their dorms and sports bars to watch their pet BCS squads once October hits.

They are "in-betweeners". They don't totally avoid their MAC team, but they don't watch the games consistently throughout the year. They pick a game early on when it's 80 and sunny, socialize a bit and catch up on the summer gossip with friends, then tend to avoid the stadium the rest of the year.
I dont know how the weather was at the other games, but it was beautiful here in Kalamazoo yesterday. It was perfect football weather. With how nice it was out, I was really expecting a bigger crowd than what we got. And especially after us beating BG last week, it was kinda disappointing to not see more than what there was.
The weather was perfect in BG...no Omar and what casual fans we've developed are front running homos, so I'm not suprised we were down.
Packing the house I see. :D
yes, Herd, but we can't all have the over-inflated numbers that your blow-hard...i mean die-hard...fans produce! 03-puke MARSHALL

Per the AP wire at Yahoo Sports:

Quote: The announced crowd of 11,257 at Lincoln Financial Field -- home of the Philadelphia Eagles -- was missing about 9,000 or so no-shows.
Motown bronco,
Save your post, so I can use it on every attendance post for the next decade. That is perfect.
Expect 20,000+ at Ohio vs. Toledo on Friday night if the weather doesn't suck. That would be a step up from the past two games for the Bobcats. The Friday night national TV draw was awesome against Pitt, and the 1st place match-ups should be a nice reason to show up as well.
It has been my observation that MAC fans are notorious front-runners in both football and basketball. Ball State and Ohio in basketball and Toledo in football usuallly draw pretty well regardless of the team records. And some, especially Bowling Green for some inexplicable reason, are often only a very mediocre draw for their fans even when they are running among the MAC leaders. Too many MAC fans abandon their team at the first sign of a bump in the road and they are ready to fire their coach when he doesn't win a conference championshp year after year or, heaven forbid, his team loses a couple of games in a row. Not enough fans enjoy the MAC games for what they best offer: great and entertaining competition and a nice break from the woes of living in a world too occupied with hatred and war.
Ohio will draw reguardless of record. Bobcats are like Chicago Cubs fans. Will come win or lose, but enjoy the band, the stadium, and the team. This season we have something to cheer about. Solich might help get some fairweather fans to come and that's a plus. Ohio might be the only place that you better worry about a sell out if you wait to long this week to get tickets. A large walkup will happen since HS football ended, except for playoffs.

I wanted to go, but couldn't.. Actually, it probably worked out for the best..
I went to the Massillon-Mckinley HS football game on Saturday and they had an overflow sellout crowd of 24,00+. The weather was excellent all afternoon, especially for this time of year. It's ashame hey couldn't put more butts in the seats on such a nice day. Hopefully attendance will be better next week.
