An early look at the conference records would not indicate to me that the MAC is looking with optimism has having more than 2 bowl slots with an outside shot at 3...here's why:

ACC:
Currently 8 teams with winning records, plus UNC at 3-3

B10:
Currently 9 teams with winning records, although look for 4-3 Indiana to finish 5-6. Mich State (4-3) is a big unknown after being crushed by NW.

Big East:
Much maligned, but still with 4 teams with winning records plus Pitt at 4-4. They will cover their bowl slots in all liklihood.

B12:
Ten (count em, 10!) teams with winning records so far....look for ISU (4-3) or K-State (4-3), or Baylor (4-3) to possibly stumble into a 5-6 record when it's all said and done, but they'll have at least 7 bowl eligible teams and more likely 8.

SEC:
Only 6 teams with winning records with Vandy and UT at .500. Look for UT to end up bowl eligible, but not Vandy.

PAC-10:
Currently 6 teams with winning records and ASU at 3-4.

C-USA:
6 teams with winning records and numerous 3-4 teams...they'll cover their bowl slots as well.

MWC:
Only 3 teams with winning records with BYU at 3-4 and Wyoming a 4-4. They only have 3 bowl slots, don't they?

WAC:
Only 3 teams with winning records and L-Tech at 3-3.

SunBelt:
Only Ark-State has a winning record...they may send a team with a losing record to their one and only bowl slot.

Indy:
ND is going bowling, as is will Navy in all liklihood...if Kent had beat Navy that would've put a crimp in their bowl chances.

So, with the MAC having two bowl slots you can easily come up with 56 bowl teams with this listing. I'd say that at this point having a 3rd bowl even looks pretty unlikely.....we shall see.
