I staed this a couple of weeks ago and was thought to be overestimating their position. Was I right? What is the prospects for their final record?
Don't know. They seem to be improving with each week. Just a couple of weeks ago they lost to Ball State, giving the Cardinals their only win of the season so far. However, they looked pretty darn good against BG last Saturday.

WMU also played good at Virginia to start the season. They are a young team and that is probably why they have been so inconsistent this year.
WMU has defeated:

SIU - 1AA
Temple 0-7
Buffalo 0-7
BGSU 4-3

The BGSU win is the mystery. Was it the fact that Jacobs went down or is WMU that good? They face powerehouse Kent State at home this Saturday. How does a team go about getting a schedule like this? Even easier than Toledo's schedule!

Seems to be a lot easier than Toledo's schedule. Consider Toledo's remaining games before poking fun at our schedule:

@ Central Michigan
@ Ohio University
vs Northern Illinois
@ Bowling Green

Anybody feel like trading their final 4 games with Toledo's final 4 scheduled games? Didn't think so.
We at CMU have:

Toledo
NIU
@WMU
@BSU

Not much different. Ohio was physical but lacked skilled players. WMU killed BGSU. BSU beat WMU?

The only certain thing this year is nothing is certain!
Our final four games are Kent, @ EMU (Ford Field), CMU, and @ NIU. I'm hoping for at least a split, which would give us our first winning season (6-5) in four years. Given we have the youngest starting squad in the NCAA, I'll gladly take that record.

As rocketfootball said, this year's unpredictable performances is indicative of a young team establishing themselves and getting used to a new coaching staff. In other words, we'll look bad sometimes and good sometimes.

At least your two toughest games are at home.

An very accurate response!

I'd say 6-5 would be at least middle of the pack. That would be a nice turn around.
Ohio has left

@Buffalo
Toledo
@Akron
Miami

Your right Toledo has the toughest schedule left. CMU is tough at home. Ohio is better at home plus thats a national tv game on a friday nite which means a setting just like Pitt faced. NIU anywhere is tough, and @BGSU is a tough rivalry game. Toledo just needs to win against NIU and CMU and they are west champs. The BGSU and Ohio games aren't as important. A loss to CMU or NIU and Toledo would lose the tiebreaker. BGSU is set unless they lose to Miami. If BGSU were to lose to Miami and Toledo, and Ohio wins out. Ohio wins the east. Miami can win the east if they win out. Akron needs Miami to lose, and win out.
What many of you have forgotten is the Ball State had numerous starters out of their lineup due to NCAA violations. When Ball State beat us in the 5 OT game at Waldo, they had their whole lineup back -- or at least the majority of players were back. Couple that fact and having to play a true freshman quarterback with no collegiate game experience and I think you'll find answer.

Let's see...last year we went 1-10 and we had our two east crossover games against Miami and Marshall...while CMU played MAC powerhouses Kent State and Buffalo. :rolleyes:
