Did we just move up 14 spots? :)
Wow... very surprised to see us at 36. What's even more surprising is that we're ahead of Bowling Green. Not that I don't think we're better than them but it seems odd that we would be ahead of them in a poll.

Whatever this poll factors in, I like it! It is obviously taking into consideration our close games with Michigan and Northwestern.

Also somewhat odd that N. Texas is dead last even with 2 wins. Then again I know nothing of the teams they've played except their loss to Troy.

I noticed that of our last 5 games, 3 of them are against teams ranked lower than 100. Kent State at 114, Ball State at 110, and Western Michigan at 104.

ps... does this mean we're better than Tennessee and Iowa? 03-razz
That's one thing about these rankings...they don't take into account that we play "stupid" at times...lots of penalties, turnovers, and so on. We moved up because we had over 400 yards of total offense (over 300 rushing) and gave up less than 200 yards, plus outscored EMU by 16.

North Texas has been awful this year, despite having 2 wins. They rank dead last in offense (119th) and 94th in defense.
sounds rather too obvious but could our rise in rankings also be possible partly because some teams ahead of us have not done all that well as of late and sank.

It's part of the cosmic theory of relativity I suspect. Teams disappear as the fast moving season accelerates or something like that.
