Kaplan and Waddle are great announcers. Not only do they call great games but they do a great job of talking up NIU athletics. I know Kaplan was involved with NIU BBall but Waddle seems to love the Huskies. He said he thought Doug Free is a first rounder. He should know, he played in the NFL. When someon shows that much Huskie love, it is a good thing.

We are lucky to have the two of them do our broadcasts.

One negative. the graphics suck. they did not show our first score for about 5 minutes after the fact. Also, you don't know the down and distance.

Thank you Kap and Waddle.
Quote: Also, you don't know the down and distance.
i noticed that too, its really glaring. its as basic as showing balls and strikes in baseball, i dont know why they dont do it. i agree with the broadcast team as well, waddle is great and were lucky to have him.
I agree about the graphics. they are essential especially without the golden yellow first down line which we get on ESPN, etc.

Yeah, I noticed it took a while to get the first (NIU) TD up.
The difference between listening to & watching an ESPN broadcast with an unbiased talent like Curry who complimented JoeN regularly vrs Comncast with Kap n Waddle is like difference between night and day in my book.

Yea -I enjoy the constant LUV compliments spewn regularly by homers Kaplan and Waddle. However, they don't really add all that much insight into the game other than as cheerleaders for NIU.

"Give him six" and "STALLION" are worn expressions from Kap. Their banter about each other's golf games or other jibes has also worn thin with me . It's like listening to their radio sportstalk broadcasts over and over again. It's no longer fresh nor all that funny anymore IMO.

Please simply describe the game, provide stats, insights, criticisms & compliments whenever needed for both teams and coaches and drop all the cutesy stuff.

Curry mentioned how Horvath had a "Strong" arm. Good research on his part. Horvath places balls real well but will never ever be a strong armed QB. This is not bashing Curry but Kap and Waddle know more about the Huskies and give great insite.
What "insites" did Kaplan and Waddle offer about the game -
the GAME?

I'm gonna now watch the tape for a second time and listen for them.

First they said EMU was in a heap of trouble after the 14-0 NIU lead with the wind. At the rate Wolfe was piling up yards, they joked/ forecasted 600 for him.

When did they talk about three and
four man fronts on D, blitzing or otherwise, or what coverages either team was playing? When did they describe man or zone coverages by either team ?

When did they mention NOT seeing any long passes downfield by NIU with the wind?

When did they identify which players were making a majority of the tackles or leading their teams?

How many times and for how many yards were QBs stopped ?

When did they talk about the time and protection Horvath or EMU QBs had or did not have before sack coverages occurred?

When did they talk about NIU facing one EMU QB who threw on most downs while the other ran on most downs outta the spread?

When did they say NIU seems uninspired/ content to keep playing not to lose in the second half?

How many times did they say NIU runs a formation with a single back?

Did they keep and report a running total of penalites and yardage lost each time they occurred?
I have to agree with cyberdawg. Curry did a much better job than Waddle/Kap in giving real insight into a game. He made a lot of great observations about what both defenses were running and how to attack them on offense. I also thought Curry talked a lot about the MAC and complimented the Huskies a lot. The coverage with ESPN seems like a college game too. My 10 year old son even commented that the EMU game looked like a high school game.
Hey, I thought it was great being able to sit out on my hill watching NIU football here in Florida. Direct TV guy didn't get here til Saturday morning, but he got system in with four hours to spare.
I wouldn't care if Sadler did the play by play and color, I would still love it seeing my Huskies live on TV. Who would have thought a few years ago!
GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe it was because I taped over old shows rather than using a new blank.

Maybe it was because of the brilliant sunshine rather than nite lighting and the camera angles or comcast equipment.

Maybe it was because E = mc squared. WHATEVER.

The color on NIU's jersey photographed untrue to its red and the entire you-knees themselves "looked like" having alot of blems , snags, nubs reflecting on close ups.

The Wed nite ESPN game tape looks nothing like the EMU game.

Once new A&APC is complete and interior of West Stands is ever remodeled for more restroom and concession stands etc , will there be a place to sit and watch the post game press conferences from a remote site rather than huddle in walkways squished near TV monitors obstructing traffic flow? What will become of coaches offices and other cavities inside the bowels of Huskie Stadium ramps?

When this is complete I shall be like the quite elderly man who sold me his extra ticket- if I'm half that lucky at his age. At the age of 75+ I would likely make alot of the extra trips to the restrooms and hopefully not piddle myself waiting in endless lines missing all the action.

That alone is an incentive to sit on student side. Little waiting - easy in - easy out.
