I like throwing out ideas of things that I think would improve the game atmosphere (even though UT has a pretty nice atmosphere but it could always be improved). Anyway, I was watching the fourth quarter of the Penn State - OSU game the other night and I saw that Penn State was playing "Zombie Nation" by Kernkraft 400. This song is generally played at hockey games and every time they play it, I get pumped up and want to see the team kick their opponents' asses. It definitely gets the crowd pumped up. After UT gets a new sound system (hopefully one that rivals Miami's and OSU's) I think it would be cool if they started using more jock jams type songs or rap/hip hop songs while the game isn't in play, similar to what they are doing with the bells, which I love I might add. Anyway, the Penn State fans were really digging this tune when it was being played. I can imagine UT playing that right after Anthony Jordan body slams an opposing qb or rb in the backfield.

Maybe I'm the only one that likes this song but if not, it may be a good addition to Ranger's pregame music selection.
Hey, what's the status on the sirens? I don't think I heard a single one Saturday night. A year or so back somebody had one that sounded just like an old WWII air raid siren. Man, did that sound cool. I could hear that puppy howl clear out in the parking lot. They should crank one of those up when the team runs out. That's such a great effect--like preliminary to a Rocket ATTACK!
Actually, I think this one would be great if they played this after a smashing beat down by Anthony Jordan. As you can see, it's called "Barbie Girl" by Aqua and the words are something like "I'm a Barbie girl, in a Barbie world..." It came out probably three or four years ago. That one would be awesome. Somebody with an in at the athletic department needs to send them this stuff. :D

I remember (vaguely) the first time that I heard "Zombie Nation" in a club down here...probably 5 years ago. The entire place went off. I still love hearing that song at sporting events. Great for getting the crowd going.
I've got both "Zombie Nation" and "Barbie Girl" on the Jambulance iPod.
I've also got 3 (actually 4, one needs cleaning up) air raid sirens. Just unable to use them behind the merchandise tables. I've been letting the "Jambulance Crew" use them. If they aren't being used effectively I'll get that "corrected".
RocketRobert, would you like to use one? If so, I'll bring it up with me and you can pick up/drop off at the merchandise sales point under the west stands.
We've got lots of cowbells left as well. I'm disappointed we haven't sold more but they picking up a little momentum.

Those cowbells are very loud. We need to get more people to buy them so we can have the Glass Bowl rocking when NIU comes to town.

I think another suggestion is to get everyone in the same color shirts like Penn State did. Even my friend who is a die-hard Hurricane fan (who despises PSU) commented that it was very cool with the Penn State "White-out". There were ZERO students in that section with anything but white on.
If all the students wore yellow shirts it would look pretty cool....especially for that televised NIU game!
Could any one of our local student leaders look into doing that? Maybe a local company would give away free t-shirts before the game to students???
