Wolfe - 4th in nation with 703 yds rushing (That's not suprising)
Horvath - 5th in nation with 1,483 passing yds, 5th in nation with 13 TD passes (tied with 2 others), 3rd in nation with QB rating of 175.97
Hurd - 5th in nation with 533 receiving yds, 1st in nation with 8 TDs (tied with 2 others)

Hopefully they don't steal Heisman votes away from eachother. :D

All goes with NIU's 6th ranked 522 yds/game offense.
Please tell me that Sam Hurd is a senior this year.
More surprising is Wolfe's #'s when Akron held him under 100 yds. What does that say about Michigan, Northwestern, & Miami's defenses? We won't even group Tenn Tech in that mix.
Yes Hurd is a senior. He played as a true freshman, and had an incredible game at Wisconsin that year. He has been hit or miss since then, but obviously looking good so far this year.

And this is with 2 games played against Big 10 teams and one against a perennial MAC powerhouse. Way to go, Huskies!! 04-bow

I'm telling you phil horvath was built for these wideouts. They don't have to make Big time plays on hard throws, they just have to go get soft tosses.

I would not be suprised to see phil blow up even bigger than he has been this year. EMU may be in for some ******. A lot of mac teams may be in a bit of trouble if this D can figure what it wants to do.

All in all, his throws seemed less wobbly and some had more zip than I've seen before. 1st td to Hurd was perfect.

If the Huskies don't turn the ball over as much (and near our endzone), the rest of the teams on the schedule are in trouble. Our D will probably be inconsistent though.
I had to watch the game on ESPN2 in Ohio. Phil sure looked good, his passes were right in the receivers hands in many cases and he hit some guys right in stride. I was not aware that he could do that throwing the ball downfield as I did not think that he had a strong enough arm. I am now beginning to believe that his arm is stronger than I gave him credit for.

The game announcers said that he had really jumped out at them as a quality QB while watching film of our previous games. I sense that Bill Cury knows what he is talking about and that he was not just blowing smoke.

Well an old school coach like that was probably impressed with the percentage that phil was throwing at. Back then it was a bigger deal than it was now. Now it's all about flash and big plays because most teams need their passing game to score and don't have a dominant run game like us.

Phil's accurate, and unlike some of the spreads run today our scheme does require some lower percentage throws (not as much as when Haldi chucked it deep 5-8 times a game, though).
