D line not putting pressure on QB. 11.37 in 4th. 35-24. Need to run the clock. Who made adjustments at half? NIU 7, Miami 17 in second half.
GW tough. FG 38-27. Nice win. Defense looked better. Keep the offense on the field.
Good to see that Wolfe is back on track!!!! Hurd looked phenomenal tonight. The announcers were really talking him up. Maybe he had a wakeup call that if he played to his potential he has a shot at making the NFL.
Blaylock 1st pick.
Did anyone else see Coach Joe's face after the game when the players were jumping around instead of shaking the other team's hands? He doesn't like that stuff and I guaruntee they hear about it. Huge win though. It seemed the defense had a little more life with the shake-ups this week.

I actually thought he was just trying to find the Miami coach and couldn't find him. It did look like they started shaking hands as the tv coverage was ending.
Rock Bottom Wrote:Ok - they just said the Horvath has a strong arm!  Accurate, maybe, but strong????
I noticed that too. I liked them though. Curry is a little hard to get used to but besides not knowing all the players and their strengths, he gave good insight into some of the matchups and schemes. He sure talked up the O-line too. Crowd didn't look as big as I thought it would be. I also learned Lacy Underalls was an NIU grad. Wow, I'm proud!

That's my take on it also.

Came from the game...

Did anyone else notice on one whole miami drive their play calls were basically, "run the ball at hutton" then the scored a TD.

Hutton...Bad on TV worse in person. The hansbros had some issues tonight out there, 2 good wideouts, but still don't seem to have a sound technical game.

Adrian davis? Drops a ball on a kick off that goes out of bounds...Then we decide its a good idea to leave him out there, and he fumbles one...AFTER i believe he fumbled one earlier in the year!

The story for this game, turnovers, and points off. no turnovers we blow them out. Clean up the mistakes and we start hurting teams.

Game ball goes to blalark...great game.
Anyone notice that the defense looked much better in the first half.. when freshmen were in the game. Second half we see Hutton, both Hansbro's out there and they put 20 on us? Also looked like we stopped going to the nickel defense and had Hutton on recievers again and we started getting beat badly again on D.

First half, we go out there, 5 DBs, see some of Melvin Rice, the freshman linebackers and we look the best we have all season, why change it ?
Pretty sure it was Hansbro who dropped the first kickoff when he was in the endzone, but Davis did drop one earlier this season (@ Michigan maybe ?)

Hutton = As bad as it gets out there. I mean its silly how bad he is playing. I don't know what it is, either he doesn't know what to do, or he doesn't have any talent to do it.

He isn't a starter, he is a decent backup...but can't start.
Alot of talk by ESPN about the Miami QB flipping the ball instead of stepping up and throwing it. It was apparent on TV.

I think betts was hurt after his first throw of the game. After that he started moving his arm like it was hurt or something and started throwing all weird.
Seemed like we had much better open field tackling today. That right there keeps the opponent to 20+ points instead of 40+. It's about time, they must have practiced that in the last 10 days. AJ looked very fast the few times he was in there - at first I thought it was Wolfe running the ball. Hurd was THE MAN today.

houstonhuskie Wrote:wife has me with the sound real low......what is the wind tonight and could that be why we see a good Nednick and then a weak one later....i got the impression that the wind was behind him in the first quarter and that is how he awas kicking long as well as maybe a factor in Horvaths pass sailing on the pick?

As i said , cant quite follow so if I am talking out of my ******, forgive me......wont be the last time tonight
Most of Nendick's KOs reached the end zone when he way kicking either way. :)
Rock Bottom Wrote:Terrible pass by Horvath - lucky it wasn't picked! 3rd and 2 and we pass? I thought Novak said we were going to run more.
Horvath only passed, what, 22 times?

As to Davis fumbling the KO, I noticed it was Powers out there the next time fielding the touchback.
