Nick’s recap of MAC football Week #5 is now live on VanDelaySports.com. Nick’s Week #5 picks were right on as he was 6-1 straight up and 5-2 against the spread.

Keep checking back as I expect Nick’s Pick for the Miami/NIU game on Monday or Tuesday and for the rest of the Week #6 games no later than TH night.

Nick has put up a pretty nice run.

However, I'm betting that his % is going to start declining as inter-MAC play increases. My theory is that he bulked up his winning % with early season games with (more/less) obvious outcomes. I think his lackluster record against the spread is a sign of what's to come.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to bash Nick, or anything. I like his stuff, and love the Vandelay site. I'm just trying to get a little Mac Pick 'Em discussion going.
I am interested to see how he does in the MAC games the rest of the year. The record against the spread is rather average, but picking 39 of 45 straight up is impressive no matter what anyone says.

HeHate, are you saying that the against the spread record will decline as the weeks go by?
No, I'm saying that the average spread record indicates that his "straight up" record will decrease as the season goes on (ie: there are less lopsided matchups).
Actually I am ahead of schedule this fall. Usually I am about 75% for the OOC games and it's the MAC games that push me over 80%. I was much less optimistic this fall but did call the OU win over Pitt and Indiana win at CMU. Everyone lost on BG at Wisconsin.

This week's games are quite interesting and I see many of these games being very close.

It is shaping up to be a quality Oct & Nov MAC season and it starts tomorrow night with Miami at NIU. Every game is a championship game now for the MAC contenders.
I think that picking MAC football is getting as difficult as basketball. Already CMU wins @ Miami, Akron beat NIU, then CMU wins @Akron. Looks like the MAC has found more balance this season which will help keep the middle teams programs. EMU, CMU, and Ohio still have hope for a title at this point. A couple of upsets in the Toledo area this week would keep the MAC race competitive deep into November. A longer race will help attendance in the MAC and keep the fans interested. Everybody, but Kent State is still alive(UB is only 0-1 officially).
