What is more of an embarrassment to the MAC? Losing to the #9 team in the country? Or losing to the #9 team in the Big Ten?

I don't think Minnesota is the #9 team in the Big Ten this year. Nice try though!

Yes, VT is much better than Minnesota though. What is embarrasing is that Ohio is only losing to Florida 7-6, and we know what happened to Marshall last year against the Gators. Add to that the VT game, and Ohio seems to be playing better against top talent. That is embarrasing for a Marshall fan!

*yawn* I would say that if you're supposedly the #16 team in the nation, and the game is on national TV...nevermind, your post proves you aren't capable of comprehension anyway.
Here's a list of eight Big Ten teams better than Minnesota.

Ohio State
Michigan
Michigan State
Penn State
Illinois
Iowa
Purdue
Wisconsin
Illinois? NO
Michigan State? Better hope today was a fluke!
Purdue? Maybe

Penn State? We'll see tonight

Here is a list of Big 10 teams Marshall has ever beaten:

Minnesota is going to a bowl game this year. At least we still had a chance to win with 2 minutes to go. It's not like we got dominated. We our a young team and we made some dumb mistakes. We are comparable to Marshall 2 years ago. Nobody said anything when they lost all of their OOC games. We will still win 8 games this year.

Can we stop bickering now? This is really getting petty. Bottom line so far today is MAC teams are competing extremely well against the BCS.

Peace

P.S. Feel free to flame against the BCS- Bull-Crap Schools! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="mad-flaming.gif" />
I think it's safe to add Penn State to that list.

Not the same PSU team as week 1. Obviously they have gotten things figured out. UCF...see you next weeek!
Stick, I'm amazed at you! YOU started a flame thread??? I'm just shocked. Stunned, I tell ya. Where's the compassion? Where's the love? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="tongue.gif" />
Overall, this was a very difficult weekend for the MAC. It started out with Marshall's performance at VT. Losing to the Hokies is fine, but dropping so many balls with such a heralded group of receivers and extremely poor tackling was disastrous.

Kudos to NIU for their effort at Wisconsin, but the Huskies dominated the game and not only should have won it, but it should not have been close.

Toledo's loss at Minnesota was embarrassing. The Rockets should have scored over 38 points but poor execution in the red zone, some dumb penalties, and some interesting decisions by the coaches late in the game to fake a 24-yard FG doomed UT. And yes, this loss to a #9 or #10 Big Ten team is embarrassing to me as a Rocket alum.

WMU should have won their game at Purdue. The big problem here was that Western had something like a 230-90 total yard advantage at the half, but the score was only 14-7 Broncos. The MAC should have had three wins here, but got zilch!

My apologies to the Ohio Bobcat fans here. I predicted 84-0 Gators and Ohio played well in the rain and lost 34-6. I stand by my predictions and I was way off here. Kudos to OU, maybe you do have more than just a great marching band.

Also, look out for the 'Chips, my preseason "darkhorse." They are 3-0 for the first time since 1986.

Finally, BG is the real deal. The Falcons are the best team in the MAC right now and no one can prove otherwise to me at this point in the season. BG should be rated nationally about #21.

Let's hope we do better this week people. I love the MAC, but some of these losses are tearing the ass out of me.

To say that Toledo or Marshall (or Miami etc.)is an embarrassment to the league is, of course, ridiculous. That was the point I was trying to demonstrate with this thread.

Of course, that doesn't mean that I don't really hate the Toledo Rockets and the Miami Redskinnyhawks.
Now THAT sounds more like the Stick I've grown to love <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[Cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/cheers.gif" />

I would also submit that having obnoxious fans running their mouths about how they deserve a BCS bid in the second week of the season is embarrassing. Especially when you consider how weak their team appears to be. The brushes with the law that repeatedly get swept under the rug are pretty darn embarrassing, as well. Then again, maybe those things just appear ridiculous to you.
