UCF, do us all proud and take a page out of the Rockets' book. Go into Happy Valley and put it to the Lions. Good luck. <img border="0" alt="[Cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/cheers.gif" />
With all due respect to UT's win, FUC faces a much stiffer challenge this year. That PSU team was absolutely awful. This year's product won't be world beaters, but the look to have found a QB in Mills who can put a lot of punch back. Coupled with some good receivers and a pounding running game, FUC better hope their re-tooled defense comes together quickly.
I had a nightmare last night that I saw the score come up on ESPN and we lost 48-14. I HATE when I have these. Does this ever happen to anyone else?
Was that PSU team that UT beat really that bad, OverHerd? I know they had a very disappointing season (was it 4-7 or 5-6?), but didn't they come back later in the year and knock off a couple of the B10's better teams that year?

The only team to beat PSU by a larger margin that year was Ohio State...and they played them in the Horseshoe. While I doubt it was OH's intent to diminish UT's accomplishment, I don't think their record that year takes any of the shine off of what the Rockets did.

I'll be rooting for UCF to get a win this year against PSU.

PSU should be better this year, and thus moves, IMO, a bit above the mediocre level, and thus a MAC upset is less likely (just thinking about historical numbers here). That said, UCF could certainly still beat 'em.
I'll be rooting for UCF as well...I believe the MAC and Big Ten play 11 games this yr. Winning at least 4 or 5 would be great and, imo, possible.
UCF over PSU, ut over Minn, Miami over Iowa, CMU over Indiana and one I think will definitely happen is NIU over the cheeseheads in Madison. I have a feeling about that one...

I also have a feeling that EMU will not be taking out Michigan St or Kent beating Ohio St....just a hunch.

GO MAC!

Just pointing out that UT was a VERY GOOD team and PSU sucked. FUC won't get that luxury as I look PSU to be much improved (I've off and on followed PSU since childhood because they used to paste WVwho every year and it always did my heart good. Also, a girl from my hometown went there and was a cheerleader).
OH, perhaps you remember better than I. Wasn't PSU around .500 that year? I don't remember who they had OOC besides UT and Southern Cal, but I think that puts UT in pretty good company. And if they were .500, that means most of those losses came against us and a couple NAME opponents. It also means they BEAT a couple decent teams. I know what you're saying about their team quality that year, though. Ccmparing it to OTHER PSU team records, it was horrible. But that team wasn't all that bad, either. That QB was SUPPPOSED to be "all that", but never got it going. Anyway, good luck UCF. Do us proud.
PSU finished 5-7 in 2000, the year Toledo knocked them off in Happy Valley.
The Nittany Lions had wins over..
LaTech(3-9)
Purdue(8-4)
Illinois(5-6)
Indiana(3-8)
MichiganSt(5-6)
They had losses to...
SouthernCal(5-7)
Toledo(10-1)
Pitt(7-5)
OhioSt(8-4)
Minnesota(6-6)
Iowa(3-9)
Michigan(9-3)

Toledo's 24-6 win, was the Nittany Lion's FOURTH largest margin of defeat. Ohio State, SouthernCal and Michigan beat them by 39,24&22 points respectively in the same year. However, only SouthernCal beat them by more points in Happy Valley.
Still a superb victory by the Rockets as the 18 point margin really does not reflect how truly dominant Toledo was from start to finish.
This year's PSU team will be much better than that 2000 squad however...and I'm not so sure this year's UCF squad can compare to the Rockets of 2000 either...with exception to the '99 Marshall team, I'd say the 2000 Rockets were the best team in the conference since Marshall rejoined back in '97.
I'll be routing like hell for UCF though...
Go Knights!
and of course
Go Herd...beat Appy!
A minor point, but actually the Penn St-Southern Cal game was played on a neutral field (Meadowlands?). Toledo was the home opener at Happy Valley. It was also Toledo's opening game of the season and the second game for Penn St. The score did not come close to indicating the degree of domination by Toledo on both sides of the ball.
