Nice article in the Charleston , WV newspaper about how
Roethlisberger is turning heads in Steelers camp. It's off
the AP Wire so it may have been in your guy's local papers
to. Says he's taking snaps with the first team , and Hines Ward
is excited.

Alot of the players on the team are suprised with his athletic
ability for his size. I wouldn't be suprised if he's the starter by
seasons end ...
This doesn't surprise me. I was screaming during draft day for the Bills to jump up 3 spots and snag Ben R. before Pittsburgh got him. I said all along (like many of us MAC fans) that he is the best QB in this draft class.
The Bills ended up with JP Losman from Tulane... who is also turning some heads in camp.

More like "shaking" some heads in camp.
For the life of every mac fan, I still cannot see how 2 QB's were drafted ahead of "Big Ben". He made a believer of this Herd Fan, after his sophomore season.
hype..hype and more hype. lol Manning had the name...and Rivers had...well..i dont know what Rivers had.. only SD seemed to love the guy.
Rivers was not such a great idea for the Chargers, as he won't even sign his contract.

Many sportswriters liked Rivers too. For whatever that's worth.

SD liked him b/c of his maturity (4 year starter at NCSU). And he was supposedly comparable to the other 2 top QB's. I can understand that logic. Maybe Ben has more upside, but it takes him 2 years to get there. Meanwhile SD could get immediate improvement, and a very good if not great QB.

But, don't blame Rivers for not signing w/ SD. Their offers were jokes (relatively speaking.)
Well...sportswriters liked him over Manning because Rivers isn't banking on a name. They liked him over Ben because noone is allowed to choose "mid-major" QBs over BCS QBs. Everyone applauds guys like Culpepper, Pennington, and Leftwich now...but going into draft day.. those guys weren't at the top.
