Okay, not really, but I got your attention, didn't I?

Cribbs played an outstanding game, BUT, he has absolutely ZERO support. I think very few teams would be able to hold him below 150. Option teams always have more rushing yardage than regular ones do. However, Marshall did give up over 200 on the ground. I expected that.

Not surprising:

1) Josh Crabbs running amuck.
2) Dropped passes by Smolder and Rader (we now know why Rader did not play at UGA
3) Byron throwing for 370 yds
4) Marshall's running game
5) Kent's poor pass defense
6) Marshall's poor tackling in the secondary
7) Kent - still VERY one-dimentional

Surprising:

1) Josh Cribbs has learned to pass the ball
2) Dropped ball by Franklin Wallace
3) Overall inability of the Marshall D Line to pressure Cribbs (of course, there is little chance to do this when you run the ball most of the time)
4) Josh Cribbs revealed himself to be an individual and not a team player (all of his strutting around like a peacock when his team is down by a bunch...
5) Marshall's "quick-strike" offense appears to be back...
6) Curtis Head - clutch fg's helped MU pull away. (He was the MU player of the game).

Cribbs, if he makes it to the NFL, will not go as a QB...He'll go as a tailback or WR (a la Eric Crouch). He's too shifty to be wasted at the QB position. I think Pees is riding his horse too much. But, if that's all you have, then that's what you must do. I also liked Mahl (sp)...He's a heck of a player. He just had no help.

Best of luck to Kent on the rest of the season...
Did you notice that Cribbs throws much better on the run than in the pocket?
Yeah, I noticed that. Almost every passing play is a roll-out. I guess that kind of plays into the strategy of deception. It keeps the safeties honest. When he rolls out, the cb's and safeties have to stick with their receivers until they are sure that its a run...Unfortunately, this is not until Crabbs gains 10 plus yards or more.
Thunder,
Cribbs is very talented and you are so right...this kid needs some support. It's like a one man offense.
Imagine if he had the weapons Harris, Leftwich or Rothlisberger have... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" />

I'm glad this yr is the last yr BG will face him.
Only a Sophomore....Have fun with him in 2003, 2004! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />
The Flashes are a year or two from really contending. From watching Marshall, the KSU talent is better than it has been in a long time, but there are depth problems and they are still not at the top tier level of the MAC in talent. Ten years ago this team would have contended, but not in the MAC today. Talent will build over time. Guys will want to play with Cribbs. I diagree with a comment that someone made in another thread about KSU stinking after Cribbs. I actually believe that they could be better AS A TEAM. Talent migrates to talent. He will help draw talent over the next three years.

That said Cribbs is a special talent and Syracuse must be kicking themselves about now. He is worth the price of admission alone and I really wish people would notice that and show up for games.
Our fan support would be laughable, if there were anyone around to hear the laughter. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

On a positive note, the stadium has picked up some sponsorship to help promote fan support there:
a new company that will transport commuting fans and staff to and from the games for a small fee. It's called Student/University Express. They get name sponsorship, too.
Stadium will now appropriately be known as S.U.X./Dix Stadium.

Just an additional comment on Cribbs. I went into the game expecting to see his awesome atheleticism and wasn't disappointed. What amazed me was his strength. I know on several of his rushes he literally drug MU defenders for an extra yard or two. What a talent...the Herd will have their hands full in the East division next season.
Go Herd!
Go MAC!
