Okay, not really, but I got your attention, didn't I?
Cribbs played an outstanding game, BUT, he has absolutely ZERO support. I think very few teams would be able to hold him below 150. Option teams always have more rushing yardage than regular ones do. However, Marshall did give up over 200 on the ground. I expected that.
Not surprising:
1) Josh Crabbs running amuck.
2) Dropped passes by Smolder and Rader (we now know why Rader did not play at UGA
3) Byron throwing for 370 yds
4) Marshall's running game
5) Kent's poor pass defense
6) Marshall's poor tackling in the secondary
7) Kent - still VERY one-dimentional
Surprising:
1) Josh Cribbs has learned to pass the ball
2) Dropped ball by Franklin Wallace
3) Overall inability of the Marshall D Line to pressure Cribbs (of course, there is little chance to do this when you run the ball most of the time)
4) Josh Cribbs revealed himself to be an individual and not a team player (all of his strutting around like a peacock when his team is down by a bunch...
5) Marshall's "quick-strike" offense appears to be back...
6) Curtis Head - clutch fg's helped MU pull away. (He was the MU player of the game).
Cribbs, if he makes it to the NFL, will not go as a QB...He'll go as a tailback or WR (a la Eric Crouch). He's too shifty to be wasted at the QB position. I think Pees is riding his horse too much. But, if that's all you have, then that's what you must do. I also liked Mahl (sp)...He's a heck of a player. He just had no help.
Best of luck to Kent on the rest of the season...
