Yikes! I thought that EMU was the worst team in the MAC this year. Now I give you the honor. Everyone remotely associated with this program needs to be fired immediately. As I have posted here before, Akron fans deserve better. UT has a similar sized school in a similar city. So why are we playing for MAC titles and expecting 30K in the stands while you guys are praying for a 6-5 season and worried about not meeting attendance requirements. There is no reason Akron shouldn't be able to achieve the same success that UT has. You deserve better and you need to start calling for change! First off - Akron fans deserve nothing because they're the most negative, jump-on-the-bandwagon leeches with no support in the MAC..and thats coming from one.
2nd - Toledo has had TRADITION for a looong time, something Akron hasn't had since Owens got here.
3rd - When Owens came here, he MADE tradition when there was none. Now, theres a poor season based on a horrible defense and everyone looks to fire him.
4th - I would enjoy seeing what would happen if they did fire Owens, because....
they'd either win an average number of games because of the players his staff recruited while being fired, or they'll win zero games because Owens was the best thing ever to happen to Akron football.
oh yeah - I forgot to mention we have the 16TH HARDEST RANKED SCHEDULE IN THE NATION. If we substituted Cal Poly, Appy St. and SE Mizzou St. for Iowa, Maryland, and Virginia - theres 3 quick wins right there.
Now our record doesn't seem so bad does it? But when you play the big boys of course you'll be winless for a while. We're still recovering from injuries we had against those teams.
I love to see fans like CMU fans, and the Marshall fans (for examples) come on here and rip Akron for being winless, meanwhile they're beating their cupcake schools and being honored for it.

Hey, if you are satisfied by the your coaching staff and program more power to you. However, as the son of 2 Akron alumni and a former Akron native I am embarrassed. Something has to change. A tough schedule is not an excuse. Tell me why in his first season, Urban Meyer took BG from 2-9 to 8-3? Was it because they had a weak schedule? I saw us destroy BG in 2000 and they were a horrible team. Meyer took the same players and now they are possibly the best team in the MAC. If BG can land a coach like Meyer, why can't UA? Also, BG has similar attendance woes and a crappy stadium. Yet they have a great team. There is no reason Akron fans shouldn't be allowed to get the same success as BG.
