We had 43 seconds left on the clock, on the UCF 5 yard line with 1 yard to go for a first down. Our offensive coordinator (Rock) calls a 5 yard pattern to the outside. Boom! Munson gets picked off. End of game.

If we were going to pass, we could have ran a fade to Lewis where the db would have never touched it. However, I think we could have easily ran it in from 5 yards out. Earlier in the series, we ran a full house backfield up the gut on a 3rd down and 1. Result? 3-4 yards.

We gave UCF a gift.

This is without a doubt the most depressing game I've personally watched the Broncos play. This even beats out Pennington beating us on the last play of the MACC a couple years ago. I am sick!!!

UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!
Not sure you gave us a gift. We gave you 17 points in the first half from Turnovers. Also Western was getting away with holds on Elton Patterson in almost every play. You guys will win plenty of games.
UCF intercepted Munson three times as well. Babin was never held once? Hmmmmmmmm. Trust me, it was a gift. Two straight running plays the game would be over with a Bronco victory. Good luck the rest of your season.
BroncoMD, WMU may have scored on 2 running plays, who knows...but...

2 plays in the first half gave WMU 14 points!!

Correct those 2 mistakes and this game is a blowout. Football is a game of inches. WMU is a good team though, I wasn't impressed with Babin, I was really impressed with the LB Malloy though.
Give me a break. You had 7 points off our turnovers and you could have very well scored more -- but you didn't. Blow out? LOL!

The coaches decided to drop Babin in pass coverage at least half the time...I'm not sure that was such a good idea after the fact.
Correction on that play call by our offensive coordinator, Brian Rock...

Darnell: "Chad thought he saw an adjustment, but that was not the play called," said Darnell.
"In our offense, the play has to be run as called. If it had been thrown away, we would have had
options. When someone does something on his own, we all pay."
While Darnell was harsh with the assesment on that play, overall he was pleased with
the way Munson played. He passed for 306 yards, 2 TD's, completing 25 of 27 passes. But three
interceptions hurt, especially the last play on offense.
Your kidding right? Your sure that your team could have run it in from 5 yards out?

You guys weren't really burning us on the run. I think you had something like 36 total yards rushing so I am not sure you should be so sure you could have scored that way. Maybe...but its not a sure thing by any means.

Great game though and nice stadium. BTW- your LB #55 i think is great...

Go Knights!
We still had to drive 50 yards to score that 7 points. The 2 mistakes UCF made gave WMU an INT for a TD and a fumble recovery to UCF's 6.

But that's football, the game came down to one play. But, if UCF doesn't make those 2 costly turnovers (more costly than WMUs TOs IMO, except that last one) then we walk away with the win.
Don't get me wrong. UCF has an excellent team -- we can argue all day long about the turnovers as every turnover is crutial to the outcome. However, when we stacked our backfield on that 3rd and 1 on the last drive, we easily took the first down. I really believe we could have pounded it home for win.

If there is a silver lining, it's that we are still in control of our own destiny -- much like Miami...
My congratulations to UCF on their first conference win (as a MAC member).

That game was the third most-nauseating game I've ever witnessed. The first one being the MACC 1999, and the second being CMU 21-17.

The sad part about the WMU-UCF game was that the interception wasn't the result of a last-second "go for broke" pass. We had a minimum of 3 tries going for us. Having that luxury, if it wasn't a sure thing, the ball should've been thrown away. As far as running it in, though, I'm not so positive we would've been able to do that.

The Broncos are a good MAC team, but not MAC championship caliber. Those that are of that caliber make clutch plays.

I would've much rather have lost by 10 points. These kinds of losses sting whereas team confidence might suffer. Haven't said that, I wouldn't hold my breath in the BG game. I know some of the other Bronco fans won't like me saying this, but I don't think the WMU-BGSU game is even going to be close. We may get pounded down there, and our exit from the MAC West title chase will be complete.

It's funny how eerily similar the Broncos and Detroit Lions games were this weekend, what with the early 14-0 lead all the way to the game-ending key interception in the right-corner of the endzone.

Stick4489... One program has a coach that voices his dissatisfaction with the MACC location. One program was caught cheating and nailed by the NCAA. The more you bring up the former, the more I'll bring up the latter. Deal?

Go ahead and try I guess. I challenge you to whine, *****, complain, cry and boo hoo hoo hoo hoo even more than you already do.

First of all, who p!ssed in your cornflakes anyway? I don't mean to echo a schoolyard cliche, but who was the one who brought all this on in this thread? That would, in fact, be you. Even more curious is that BroncoMD and I rarely make remarks about Marshall, Marshall fans, or Pruett.

But hey, if you want to debate about whining, here we go...

--Anyone who scores 21 points late on Marshall did it in "garbage" time when 3rd and 4th stringers were on the field. But when Marshall scores late points on Florida and Va Tech, it's skill and raw talent.

--Complain that attendance is down due to "boring" MAC opponents that locals don't want to see, yet schedule riveting OOC games against Appy State, Hofstra, and Troy State.

--Pruett plays the we-are-the-victims role before the Florida game, citing adversity, when in fact his program was caught cheating.

--Leftwich, as a sophomore, throws a hissy fit and whines that the voting for All-MAC QB is "political".

--When Marshall loses or gives up some points, it's always because of "dropped passes".

--The moaning and complaining about not getting invited to Confederate USA (despite numerous "dun deals") is perpetual and endless.

--Quickly pulling out the Stereotype Card when someone makes a bad joke about backwoods, trailers, and incest. But apparently it's quite permissable to call northern towns dumps, armpits, rust belt holes, and the like.

--The shrill of whining when having to go to Detroit for a bowl game, the moaning about the weather, and the additional stereotypes about Detroit as a ghetto third-world city.

--Complaining about MAC refs during basketball season has been highly documented. Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo.

..and on, and on.

I don't like engaging in this sort of petty garbage, and would prefer to just talk about the games. But if you want to continue this tired topic, be my guest.
This complaint sounds like a UCF fan. It was sure nice being on the winning end of this one. UCF has had too many close calls over their D1A experience. What if, what if, doesn't feel any better to talk about it Broncos fans. You lost, get over it and concentrate on a team that is even better than UCF. You all have your hands full with a top 25 team now.
Apologies to the majority of the decent Herd fans on the board. Maybe I got a little "hot". But to break into a thread with a flaming shot where fans are still reeling from a very heartbreaking loss... well... you get the idea of what a typical reaction might be.

UCF99: UCF won fair n' square. Congrats on the win. Your defense is quick, and there were times when you sliced through our secondary like a hot knife through butter.

Good game.
No Problem Motown...I can understand your plight. Losing a game like that is certainly tough (a la MACC last year). Good luck on the rest of the season...Look at it this way, you STILL can win the West...

04-cheers
