It hardly qualifies as "hating," I would think.
However, since I have now been "published" I expect all of you to give me the deference that I so richly deserve! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="biggrin.gif" />

Mike:
I enjoyed your article "Golden Knights put the MAC in smack talk" in the Sentinel. I am a life-long Georgia Tech season ticket holder here in Atlanta, and I am also a Miami University graduate and season ticket holder. I get up to Oxford for a couple of games a year.
Anyway, having watched the UCF program pretty closely (and having seen them play a number of times in person), I am baffled as to the source of UCF bravado. It seems to me to hang perilously close to hubris. I know they play good football, but they are a far cry from a football powerhouse.
UCF often cites it's record against MAC foes the last few years as evidence that they will "dominate the MAC." If you look at who they played and compare their record to my own alma mater, I'm not sure their record warrants dubbing them the next Marshall.
Let's compare UCF play against MAC school's to Miami's record in the same year, shall we?
1996
UCF lost to Ball State (8-4, MAC Champ) and beat Bowling Green (4-7).
Miami beat Ball State and lost to Bowling Green. We finished 6-5 (6-2 in MAC).
1997
UCF beat Kent (3-8), EMU (4-7), and Toledo (9-3).
Miami beat Kent, did not play EMU, and lost to Toledo. In the same year, Miami beat Big Least Champion Virginia Tech and beat Army. We finished 8-3 (6-2) in the MAC.
1998
UCF beat Bowling Green (5-6), Toledo (7-5), NIU (2-9), and Ball State (1-10).
Miami beat Bowling Green, Toledo, NIU, and Ball State. In addition we beat UNC, Army, and UC, finishing 10-1 (7-1 in the MAC and 2nd in the conference).
1999
UCF beat EMU (4-7) and lost to Bowling Green (5-6).
Miami beat EMU and Bowling Green, finishing 7-4 (6-2 in the MAC). Miami also beat Big 10 Champion, Northwestern.
2000
UCF beat EMU (3-8) and lost to Akron (6-5) and NIU (6-5).
Miami beat EMU and lost to Akron, while not playing NIU. Miami finished 6-5 (5-3 in the MAC). Miami also beat Vanderbilt.
2001
UCF beat Akron (4-7).
Miami Beat Akron an finished 7-5 (6-2 in the MAC).
The combined records of the MAC teams UCF has beaten is 46-77. The combined record of the MAC teams UCF has lost to is 25-20.
What does that tell you? Well, Miami has not won the title in ANY of the above-mentioned years, and our OOC schedule has been very tough. I don't think UCF has done anything to earn bragging rights.
Don't get me wrong, they might very well win the title, but they certainly don't have a track record of championship play.
Hope you find this interesting.
