That's just about what we would have expected. The MAC goes 2-0 vs the ACC, yet they claim we're not that good and that CUSA is better than the MAC. It's a joke to say that ECU is better than Miami, at least right now.

Hey, GT Swagger, what happened to that Wake depth taking over vs. NIU???
Thanks, GTS, but I've given up trying to teach the ineducable. It's a waste of time.
The Wake offensive unit pounded it up the gut all day, and it worked all day, just as I predicted.

However, the lackluster defensive performance hurt, and the absolutely ghastly special teams cost Wake.

Hand it to NIU, they took advantage of the oppurtunity presented to them. However, if the 1st or 2nd string Wake Forest kicker were there... ask yourself if it would have been the same outcome.
You saw Wake's #1 kicker - it wasn't the kicker that bounced the snap back to the holder on the FG attempt in the last 4 minutes!! Special teams are part of the game, and ours were better.

Do you think Bobby Bowden walks around telling people that if his #1 kicker was there he would have beaten Miami twice in a row in the mid 90s? Do you think if we hadn't lost our best DB - our RUN SUPPORTING DB - on the first Wake drive, we might have done a better job against their run? It's sure debatable....
It's funny.... usually it's the MAC teams that roll out the shoulda, woulda, couldas when they fall short of springing the big upset. Well it looks like the tables have been turned. UNC is complaining about the rain in their loss to Miami "If it only wasn't raining our guys wouldn't have had 9 TO's", and the Wake fans now saying "If we only had a kicker".

I'll stick to the NIU game though. Well, Wake didn't have a kicker. NIU did. Also, Wake was given 4 turnovers and had the lead THE WHOLE GAME. They should be embarassed. They played as well as they could and still didn't beat the lowly MAC team. We tried to give them the game. We had a brand new QB, who by the way has played about as much as your kicker, and he engineered comeback after comeback.

Usually I don't post negative things. But after reading all the crap from the ACC boards, I had to chime in.

BOTTOM LINE :
MAC 2
ACC 0

Enough said.

PS - We'll see Maryland in Dekalb to open the season next year.

I guess it didn't rain on Miami. Those bastards always luck out like that.
Hey, Swagger, are you saying that it was a "moral victory" for Wake Forest?

I didn't mean to take any credit away from Miami by mentioning the rain -- and you can probably tell that I have defended them the entire thread.

I only mention it to show that crazy things happen in the rain that wouldn't normally happen -- but it doesn't mean that those games count any less.

We had a lot of screw-ups and were amazingly unlucky this past Saturday -- and faced a Miami team that executed its gameplan better than us. All of those -- including the rain -- were factors in the game.

Actually, JD, he might means that it didn't rain on Miami.

Miami has been beating BCS teams for so long. Considering how they do in the MAC, it seems to happen for no apparent reason.

Miami is just danged lucky, again and again and again... Take that 1995 win at Northwestern. Northwestern blew a big lead late, flubbing two punts late. The Wildcats just fell apart.

Miami is a school for kids that get all the breaks. Hence this...danged... aura.

It was quite humiliating. I'm somewhat embarrised by the ACC's OOC performance so far, in fact.

Regardless, we gave them a 4-0 TO advantage and still won. Add that to Miami's game, and we're at least 13 turnovers better than the Hawks!!

There's an old saying..."the harder I work, the luckier I get." You don't go 9-4 against the SEC by being "lucky." You might win one game by being "lucky." You might win two games by being "lucky." You don't establish the record and tradition that Miami has through "luck."

You might just as well suppose that Miami's 36-18-5 record over BUGS is lucky. How about the fact that we have the 12th best winning % in the history of the NCAA...is that "lucky"? How about our 600+ all-time wins...

"Luck," I suppose. Hey, maybe our 47-29-2 record against OU...at least 20 of those wins must have involved "luck." And no way we'd have a 25-19-1 record against Toledo or a 29-8-1 record against Marshall without incredible luck.

And my wife...she sure did have all the breaks....serving beer at night to pay her Miami tuition. Some nights, she'd even get a really good tip -- but only when she was really "lucky."

Dodo: right-on about luck. The first year CMU beat Michigan State (20-3), we heard a lot of that "luck" talk. The second year, we heard...well, a lot less talk and a lot more mutters.

Now, having said that...CMU could use just a little luck with its injury situation. For the second straight week, we'll be starting our #3 RB and RT on offense. And to think we started the season with so much depth at those spots...

Look, I'm kidding around. Miami kids always get the breaks. And so does the football team. I'm jealous, that's all.
