Don't look now, but Northern Illinois leads Wisconsin 3-0 late 1st quarter.
One quarter down, three to go!!!
Stupid!!!

NIU has one of the best field goal kickers in the nation. It's third and 9 at the Wisconin 30. So what happens? NIU tries to pass, gets sacked and fumbles away the ball, along with a field goal attempt. Now Wisconsin is driving. Can you say momentum shift?

Earlier, NIU fumbled at the Badger 3 yard line.
Grrrr!!! Opportunities lost!
It's halftime: Wisconsin 10 NIU 6

NIU has been in scoring position four times and only has two field goals to show for it. Three of the drives started between the NIU 20-25 yard line.

Wisconsin has been in scoring position twice with a TD and a field goal. Both of their drives started at the Badger 42, very good field position both times.

The Huskies get the ball at the beginning of the second half. Please NIU don't let things get out of control vis-a-vis last week!

Final: Wisconsin 24, NIU 21. I'm not a big fan of moral victories, but...great effort, Huskies!
man! i only saw the score, but man!

mustve been a great game!
During halftime of Michigan-Notre Dame, NBC showed TWO replays of the interference call near the end of the NIU-Badgers game.

What a TOTAL CRAP CALL!!!!
Grrr! These are the games the MAC needs to go its way. Ugh, why always so close yet so far. Nice effort by Huskies, especially after last weeks game and all the travel.

Go Falcons!
Had to live with the radio call of the game but saw the replay of the ummm..pass interference call.

Turnovers remain the biggest downfall this year

And as for those end of game "penalties"...when Jimmy Roberts, a golf announcer is questioning the call while doing the highlight at during halftime of the ND game...what more is there to say?

Other than that, it reminds me of our Illinois game last year, except we outplayed the Badgers for the whole freakin' game and they pulled it out.

I'm proud of our guys though.
The Huskies won this freakin' game, no doubt about it. Just down right beat them in every aspect, except of course the ever-important turnover category - here NIU sits, with a 8-1 turnover deficit in two games against BCS teams, yet holds only a 2 point deficit combined. Means squat, of course, but is great for moral victories (which stink!).

Calls towards the end were baloney - pass interference on 3rd & 10 was legit, other two were complete bullcrap.

However, we all know that you have to dominate Big 10 opponents to get the win. It's unfair, but that's the way it is. On the bright side, all three of these teams competed well against "superior" competition and the season is young. Congrats to NIU on a well played, hard fought game. Good luck to the Huskies in all but one of their upcoming games.
If we don't turn the ball over 1) inside UW's 10, 2) inside UW's 40 (leading to their first TD) and 3) inside our own 20 (leading to another TD), we win easily. We just flat beat their butts all over the field, but the mistakes kept UW in the game and gave the refs an opportunity to make the calls that shouldn't have been made.
