Sorry, I forgot where I was and meant for this to be on the main board.
This defense has lost their star linebacker and now the middle of their D line. They were already a weak run defense and now it looks like they will employ the swiss cheese method of defense. How many run oriented offenses do they come up against. And how will this affect their pass rush? I know that Toledo has always taught their line and QBs to set up and use scramble lanes in the A and B gaps. Once teams use this to their advantage, it will force the middle linebacker to cover those lanes. That will open a bubble in their pass coverage to exploit. There are to many good QBs in this league for marshall to get away with this weakness.

They already looked like a typical C-USA team last season...score as many points as possible and hope to outscore the other team doing the same...this doesn't bode well for their much hyped improvement on the defensive side of the ball.
In Huntington "personal reasons" is the politically correct way of saying "The janitorial pay cuts were not acceptable to this player."

Oddball, do I take that response to mean you found humor in my post, or is that your graphic depiction of Marshall's Defensive Line? <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

No, that would be like this:

<img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" /> &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <img border="0" alt="[laugh]" title="" src="graemlins/laughing.gif" />

I found the post funny.

It seems the Herd is in a real bind now....
I don't care how potent your offense is ya gotta have a decent D to go with it.

BTW Oddball, your post is pretty funny...

GO BG!!

16+ days until kickoff <img border="0" alt="[Cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/cheers.gif" />

Gotta agree, Freak...if Marshall doesn't have a much improved D, they'll slip off of the voting radar right after the Va Tech game. Suggs was the best RB in the nation before his injury, imo...if he's full strength and Marshall's D is still ******, he'll put up ungodly numbers.
Well, will ya look who's here....some of my favorite posting buddies! I just wanted to add the obvious, that if V Tech lets their running backs do the work, that means ball control. And if Leftwich can't get the ball back, he can't score. (Unless that sieve-like Herd defense is so horrific that V Tech scores on every run.) Stick a fork in it. This game is DONE before it even starts. Only the final score is yet undecided. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="cool.gif" />

I don't believe in "gimmes", Whinny. But, this one should be as close to one as they get.

Nice to see you!
