Just for argument's sake, let's say BG goes undefeated. Is there any chance they get a higher profile, say w/ some clever marketing? I know, that runs contrary to the current state of college football. But if:

No other team is undefeated. Doesn't BG have to get a BCS bid then?

If only UCG is undefeated. They'll slight BG, they did it to Marshall and Tulane.

but what if

UCG, Okla and Ohio St are also undefeated? Could, somehow, some way, someone set up a Ohio A&M vs BG bowl game? It's fantasy, I'm sure the contracts forbid it, but couldn't someone market such a game?
The BCS is acting like its inpenetrable formula is law. I don't know if BGSU can even make it up to No. 15 or not, to say nothing of -- what, sixth? -- the level the BCS said it requires before taking a non-BCS team.

The way the Falcons are playing right now, I'm not sure we WANT them in a BCS bowl.
To me the real germaine concern is what happens to the MCB if the B10 comes up empty with a bowl eligible team. The way I see it there won't likely be ANY BCS teams leftover that would be bowl eligible in that scenario (remember, 6-6 teams are only eligible if you're filling out a conference's guaranteed slot), so we'd be forced to look at non-BCS options. That isn't anymore reassuring, as the MWC, C-USA and the WAC are having trouble filling their slots out as it is.

Looks like if the B10 doesn't have a team the MAC will have to look at the leftover of SJS or Fresno (both 4-4) if they bowl eligible, or So. Florida (currently 5-2). So. Florida plays BG later this year, and if USF wins this game they could be a contender for a bowl if the BCS boyz come up short (see my bowl analysis in a thread below for that possibility).

Better root for MSU (3-4) to finish 6-6 or else the MCB could be in real trouble on lining up any kind of opponent. If they run out of options they could just pit BG vs. UT, which would likely draw 40K in Ford Field. :D
P.S. to the Torch & other BG fans: In a related thread on bowls, I figure that BG's best chance at bowling (elsewhere of one of the MAC's two guaranteed spots) would perhaps be in the SVB, esp. if the MWC and/or C-USA come up short in fulfilling their bowl slots in Seattle and Hawaii, respectively.

How do you like my "outlandish" thought of BG vs. UT in the MCB if the B10 strikes out with bowl eligible teams. Honestly, the only other team left in the country then might be S. Florida and MAC teams!! 03-lol

An all-MAC bowl would be awful for the conference. It may be fine for the 2 schools involved and would probably draw well because of the rivalry, but NO ONE in the rest of the country would notice or care.
The MAC needs to play schools from BCS conferences if possible or at least the "other" football conferences to establish the level of play we have.
Who wants to see a bowl game between 2 teams in the same division in the same conference? What's fun about bowl games are the matchups. Who besides BG-UT fans would like to see this one? 05-nono
Especially since it would be the second meeting between the two teams in a month.

It would be a disaster. What a predicament, the BCS teams are finally weak, just when the MAC needs a decent opponent.

Arrgghh. If, if and if. If NIU had won a certain two games, and Miami had won 1 more OOC game, the MAC SOS could be enough to propel a team ahead.

Now we're in major limbo.
