Full Version: Adjusting to my new home

After a few years of sharing a luxury penthouse, I'm slowly but surely adjusting to the dank MAC basement. I didn't expect the move to the cellar to be this quick and sudden, so it'll take some time getting used to. Although it'll be cozy with EMU and Buffalo around.

Simply put, this was inevitable. After three nailbiter losses, the Broncos have generally given up (a la the Bobcats of last year). Now the Broncos are a horrid 3-11 in their last 14 games. A team definitely worthy of ESPN's Bottom 10 list. EMU is the only toss-up left on the schedule. Toledo and CMU will shred us up like cole slaw.

Hmmm... life in the basement. I'm definitely not used to these living arrangements. But it looks like we'll be here for a while.

Now, when does basketball season start again?
:crying:
Not

soon

enough!!

Hey MB, don't get too down on the Broncos. After next week, you will be feeling much better about your team. Just ask the Chippewas. 03-lol
Shall we throw a housewarming party? 04-drinky Since CMU is exiting the basement, it seems like the polite thing to do... :D

So, on a more serious note, are Darnell's britches getting a touch warm?
Nope, Darnell's britches aren't warm yet, although I'm sure his ears are burning. We'd have to have another couple of bad years before our administration would give up on GD.

And Motown, don't get too comfy in your basement digs. I hope you're renting rather than buying. Next year could be THE YEAR.
MoTown and Whinny, I have to share a perception I -- and others -- have. I mean this by way of a serious question and not to start a flame war (that can wait a couple weeks 03-wink ).

It's that GD came in looking to be upwardly-mobile in a hurry, so he didn't really build for the long haul. After falling short of the Top 25 (2000 :D ) and twice failing to win the MACCG, Gary saw the team slip to 5-7 last season and realized he wasn't leaving Kalamazoo for greener (as in cash) pastures immediately, so he scrambled to get all those JUCOS as a quick-fix. Now that no quick turnaround is in sight, Gary will be hard-pressed to recruit well in the immediate future.

I'm interested in your thoughts on this. I'd ask someone else but he's been ranting a bit more than usual  and I doubt it would be well-received...
You have valid points, CMF. What's scary is, the Darnell path is looking eerily similar to that of Bob Donewald, the old hoops coach. Had a couple fine seasons, then a dropoff, then a curious slew of JUCO recruiting. Upon this, we slid head-first into the basement. (Thankfully, the new basketball coach is already getting the team back to being in the MAC title mix. But I digress...)

As far as GD, I guess I'm with Whinny on this one. I'm still a Darnell supporter, but perhaps more cautious now. I'm also hoping the JUCO influx was a one-year thing. Next season, I'm looking for 2-3 JUCOs, and the rest freshmen. I'll wait and see how we do through the 2003 season. But if another sub-.500 season rolls around, then I'll be in favor of showing Darnell the door.

I know this is meaningless "woulda shoulda coulda" talk, but had we not blown those Purdue, UCF, and BGSU games in the final minutes of each game, all this would be a moot point. But again, just like Ohio of last season, a few early consecutive close-but-no-cigar losses can do wonders destroying motivation. Win a couple of those tight games last month, and I guarantee the Broncos score a lot more than 7 points at Ball State. But all that is just speculation. We couldn't perform in the clutch, and it cost us.

And as far as the WMU-CMU game this year, there's probably no way in Hades we'll break the losing streak in this shipwreck of a season.

But I guess we can be thankful we don't have MSU's problems. Ouch!

November 23 is the day you end the streak. You will feel much better on the 24th.
Motown:
Basketball exhibitions have already started.
And when your football season ends in September 03-banghead , this is a good thing.
You just aren't used to it yet. 03-wink

From what I've seen of WMU this season, it's doubtful. CMU plays very well at home, and the Bronco offense is a shambles right now. However, first things first: UT :saber:
Everybody has great points that I won't add on to. All I know is I have been to every game last season and this season and the Broncos have won just 7 games. Their record in all the games is 7-13. :crying:

By the way, first things first.....EMUgly

Well then...you should feel a bit better on the 10th... 03-wink
