"I know Lee has been taking some heat, but they need to hang with him,'' Pruett said. "He's doing a good job and they don't need to start over. They need to hang with the guy because he has a young team and he's a good coach. And they don't need to start him with three teams at the beginning of the season that he can't beat.''

p.s.....at least Marshall fans lose with class....I respect you all Herd fans

Nice words of support for Lee Owens by Bob Pruett. I would have to say Marshall has shown a lot of class in this defeat, at least I haven't heard a lot of whining and excuse-making. However the reality of it is that Akron *does* have to schedule some "unbeatable" OOC teams in order to finance the program. But since the Zips finally have a big win under their belt I think it will get the monkey off their backs somewhat and give them a new level of confidence no matter who they play.
I wonder how this changes things for Owens. There were rumors of both him wanting to leave and/or being shown the door. I would think finally beating a ranked team would put some wind back in everybody's sails (of course we still need to win a couple more games this year). This should also help recruiting along with the new logos & uni's and new practice facility opening next year. The only thing that will build more fan support is success on the field and we need to take a step forward now.
