I sure don't see anyone here calling for Andy Reed's head on a platter today.

Let's see.

Star quarterback hurts leg/foot. (McNabb/Byron)

Star quarterback keeps playing. (McNabb/Byron)

Star quarterback goes to hospital for x-rays.(Byron)

Star quarterback comes back in game, after x-rays reveal no break. (Byron)

Star quarterback out six to eight weeks because of a broken ankle he played almost the entire game on, a not close game I might add. (McNabb)

Why isn't anyone calling Andy Reed a classless jerk who cares nothing for his players?
Hell, this comes from a team that has an x-ray machine IN the stadium.

You're comparing a professional QB, getting a very large paycheck to play football, in a game in which he was hurt on the 3rd play (and with very little if any lead at the time) and didn't leave the building, to a situation with an amateur player (at least that's what we're LED to believe), whose money-making future is still yet to come to fruition (at least that's what we're LED to believe), in the middle of a game, in which they were losing, that meant nothing to Marshall's pursuit of the MAC East title. Similar, but hardly exactly the same. After all, at least McNabb has 100 million reasons in which to play. He also wasn't so incapacitated that he couldn't jog up to the line between plays.

IMO, I didn't crucify Pruett for possibly getting Byron hurt worse, I just thought it was stupid to risk it when the game meant zilch. Credit Stan Hill for stepping in for Marshall's biggest game, but if Stan's heartbeat hadn't calmed down after his flight from police, you'd be kicking yourself for allowing him to come back into that Akron game.
I don't follow pro football much anymore, HS. Don't they get paid for playing, though?
Here it comes....
Quote:...when the game meant zilch.

Says who?

They ALL mean something. Otherwise, why play them?

Too many games and teams mean "zilch" to too many fans in the MAC.

Actually HuskieDan, when Byron left the game the game was tied.

When he came back, they were losing. He came back after x-rays were deemed negative, and doctors cleared him to play.

On the other hand, McNabb never left for x-rays.

As for the comparison, I would think that a professional team with millions tied up in their star quarterback would be much more apt to have him checked out as a precaution to injuring their large investment.

I am not saying I thought Byron should have played. Far from it.
Just where is the consternation?
I saw the highlights, McNabb could barely get out of his own way. For the first time in his career he had NO rushing ATTEMPTS.
I don't pay a lot of attention to the NFL, but if it happened similar to the way Leftwich's was........That was very stupid by the Eagles coach! He should be fired!!!

There....happy now? :D
Think about it for one minute....you're talking about Pruett (or Novak, or Hoeppner, or Meyer, or Amstutz, or Darnell, etc) taking risks with a 20 year old kid whose only payment is a scholarship, as opposed to a 100 million dollar QB saying that he wants to play.

As I said earlier, I don't fault Pruett with putting his QB at undue risk in a malicious manner, I just think it was unnecessary - injuries happen, and if you had that little faith in Stan Hill to finish the Akron game for you and pull out a victory, then you must have felt VERY insecure about the Miami game. IMO, if you felt that secure in Hill going into the Akron game, you play him and ask Byron to come back strong for the Miami game. Sounds like it worked out for the best (for Marshall), but not without some serious sweating.

I guess you don't live in Philly. According to ESPN, the Eagles' blinding stupidity is basically the only topic on talk radio up there right now.

And Andy Reid walked into a shitstorm at his Monday press conference.

But hey, if it doesn't feed the Huntington persecution complex, my apologies for mentioning it.
HS, I wasn't being flippant.......I really have lost interest in most all pro sports, and wasn't even aware of the McNabb situation, and wouldnt' care enough to comment on it unless you posted it asking for feedback.
You do know that the 100 million is not GUARANTEED. Football money is not guaranteed.

Not taking a side, just reporting the facts.
He did, however, get a $20 million signing bonus. That's guaranteed.

(Again, just the facts.)
20mil guaranteed is still a pretty nice chunk of change. About 18 mil than Byron has made at Marshall :D
By the way, if you want this guy...

....to run faster, let him get a quick take of this before each Offensive Series..

..I guarantee you'll see someone more reminiscent of Michael Vick calling the signals at MU.. :D

Or, we could dress the opposing team in FUC jerseys and then we would be sure to outrun and outscore the opposition!
Well we could do that as well... but it wouldn't be anywhere near as funny.. :D
I don't know...we were laughing really really hard!! 03-lol
