I guess this will be the last year the Lima Noise gives her any coverage.

Horne says BGSU 'looks like good fit'

By MARK ALTSTAETTER
Your women's bball program is a joke! 03-lol Try building a dynasty like Toledo! When was the last time BG was in the tourny. Oh, wait... :D
tre, I know where you're going there, but in bugs defense (it kills me!!!), they had a bball dynasty going before UT did. They were just unfortunate enough to lose the 2 coaches who put it together. UT lost one, and picked up where he left off with the next one. Bugs, in the mean time, has fallen off hard.
I'm just trying to find new ways to rip on BG this week! 04-cheers

I'm sure this will come as quite a surprise to KSU and Ball St.!
Or were you speaking in the past tense?
:D
Look out for the Herd's Womens program. Its definatly on the rise and I promise you will win the MAC title before the men do.
So that would be exactly one year BEFORE hell freezes over?

Seriously, we all would love to see MU-H put a little more into their other sports programs--championship football teams and near the bottom in all-sports races. 04-cheers
Marshall put up big bucks to hire their womens coach, Chadwick, from Stephen F Austin. At Stephen F Austin he guided his team almost always won the conference(he had like a 7 conference losses in 10 years) and went to the Sweet 16 once. He's a terrific coach and will help build the womens program. I agree axeme that Marshall does need to build other sports and this is one sport which they will compete in this year. Now as for mens basketball........... 03-banghead
Axeman, every program has a down year. Last year was a huge disappointment. Our team had the talent but not the chemistry. We have a lot of great new recruits coming in. I think our women's bball team will be back in the MAC title hunt this year. They certainly look better than the men's bball team has thus far! 26 turnovers tonight! 03-banghead Hats off to the flashes for their slaughter of Urbana.

The Lady Rockets indeed did look strong on Saturday in demolishing hapless Iona 92-36. The four talented freshmen all got plenty of playing time and much of the projected success of this season's team will depend on the steady improvement of this group because the team is not deep in terms of numbers. For a good portion of the game all four of the newcomers were playing at the same time and there was no drop off in getting the job done, or playing with intensity.

For the Lady Rockets to make a serious run at the title again however, the two post players, Karin Hoogendam and Julie Hillis, will have to step up and establish a serious presence underneath. If they can start banging under the basket it will open up a lot of things for our talented perimeter players.

The four signees for next year are all talented and look for Coach Ehlen to supplement the class with one or two JUCO signings, if any D-1 type players should be available.

As for the BGSU recruit, Carin Horne, she will certainly help the Lady Falcons in the future but I'm not sure how hard Toledo was recruiting her. In any event Danielle Bishop, the young lady from little Lainsburg Christian just north of Lansing, looks like a real recruiting find and those who have seen her play compare her favorably to the great Kim Knuth. Bishop will probably play the off guard and wing forward when she gets to Toledo next year.

Young Herdman posted that the Marshall women would win the MAC before the men do and that is no idle statement. The Marshall coach, Royce Chadwick is the real deal and he just brought in an excellent recruiting class headed by 6-5 Michele Hagen, a transfer from Stephen F. Austin. Marshall is probably two years away from making some serious noise in the conference.

As for the Lady Rockets, they go up against the Michigan State Spartans in East Lansing tomorrow evening and how they fare will be a better barometer of their ability than the Iona game rout.

For what it's worth, Miami (the real Miami in Oxford) beat the Lady Spartans on their home court yesterday 86-84 to capture the Spartan tournament championship played over the weekend.

GO ROCKETS!!

Just jivin' a bit. the KSU women have not exactly been chopped liver for the last 10 years: big stinkin' piles of East championships and MAC finals, NCAA appearances, and more of the same coming it appears depsite a tough OOC schedule.

And speaking of tough OOC schedules, the men believed in themselves, hung together, , put forth 110% effort and were able to pull the game out yesterday! 03-lol
Hey, this schedule thing, it's not our fault--major conference opps. dropped us left and right after last spring and nobody wanted to play us this year. We couldn't even finalize the schedule until right before the first of practice. We have St. Bonnie, Boston College, and a home game in the ESPN Bracket Busters. We tried to schedule tougher, but we were supposed to play UC originally in the R&R, though they backed out early--in all fairness not because of us completely--then we had Pitt coming in until this summer they were mulling over the idea of coming to our house in Cleveland (Gund) and chickened out after their whuppin in the sweet 16 last year. Xavier dropped off the schedule. What are you going to do.
And besides, somebody had to soften up Urbana for BG next month. 03-lol
