Wonder when the Herd will crack the top 300? 03-banghead
Seriously, good job. I'd love to see the MAC get more than one ticket to the dance this year although I doubt it will happen. What's even more outrageous is the MAC champion getting something like a 10th or 11th seed each year. That just plain sucks.
Our conf. OOC play so far is looking bad for a 2nd bid and it's barely December!
Those quality OOC wins are the ticket or at least an excellent OOC record.
Realistically it looks like the only way to the NCAA is through the turnstiles at the Gund, and only one gets through.
We need SOMEONE to step up to the top 50 anyway in the RPI, probably better--KSU was 30th in 2000 and got sent packing to the NIT--and then lose the MACC to have any chance at 2.
My Flashes are a bit green, but we have the talent and the intangibles. We need some seasoning. I didn't really expect we would have to carry the MAC flag this early in the year. I'm hoping WMU can keep it rolling and get some press nationally. Everyone else has shot themselves in the foot already, somewhat.

Kent got hosed out of an at-large berth in 2000. No doubt about it.

I was so mad about the various rating systems, I made my own. Check it out at : http://www.mymaps.com/bball/rankings99-00.htm
For the most part, the MAC is looking very weak in the preseason OOC (just look at our record vs. the Mid Continent.......ugh!), and now one of our premier teams BSU lost their best player for the season. Doesn't bode very well for 2 bids because if the MAC teams go into the conference play with poor RPI's then they just keep getting worse, even when you win.

Tell it, eCk!

Last year we had 3 teams (BSU, BG, KSU) who kept the MAC in at least the edge of national attention all season and were ranked or high enough in the RPI to get some respect, but this looks bad this year. If Kent can keep winning going into January it might help, but there's not much reason to be optimistic about the MAC's chances of getting 2 bids. And just last spring we got all that press praising the conference, it looked like we might have finally gotten over the hump. 03-confused
