That was a great game. I knew it would come down to the final play. I'm not disappointed, since the team already exceeded my expectations this year. I know we'll get it back next year in UT. As for the call at the end, it wasn't a screw job. The tip came after the interference. Maybe it should have been defensive holding instead, but i don't think it would have made a differance. We could stop Byron in the end.
Thanks for the show of sportsmanship TREROCKET. I'd say 2 evenly matched teams, with Marshall getting the last score. The MAC has some great offensive teams this year:Marshall, Toledo, NIU, Bowling Green, UCF, and Miami were all very good and evenly matched. I believe Marshall's swagger, Leftwich, and Watts were the deciding factors that gave the Herd a slight edge at home. Even Kent State, Akron, and Ohio had their moments this year offensively. BUT:All the teams in the conference need to work on shoring up weak defenses.
The Rockets played very well - all Toledo fans should be proud of everything but the final outcome. Now go to Detroit and destroy whoever they send that way in the MCB. I'll be watching and rooting for the Rockets of the improving MAC.

The call was 100% correct. The holding occurred before the tip. The MAC officials did a very nice job for a change. They missed the call on Toledo's fumble. Martin's knee did not touch the ground before the ball came out. But, I had the benefit of seeing the replay three times. The only glaringly bad call, imo, was Gardner's hit on Leftwich. It was perfectly clean. Leftwich should have gotten at least one celebration call, as well. Not that it would likely have had any effect. All in all, a very cleanly officiated game.

It was after the play. In defense of Gardner, it was a clean hit otherwise and he was so far from the play that he may not have know the play was over.

I didn't like that move one bit. However, I don't think it deserved a penalty. If he would've done that crap out on the middle of the field then I think it deserves a penalty. He was nearly to the sidelines and most in the stadium (inluding the officials) did not see him do it. EVERYONE watching on television saw it and wondered why it wasn't penalized. It's just a difference in being there and seeing it on television.

It was a great game. The Rockets represented their university very well. Congratulations to all.

I disagree about Leftwich. The NCAA Rules and Interpretations are very clear.

Great game, though.

It wasn't seen. That's what I meant. It's not as if it was seen and ignored. It wasn't seen and it didn't occur where an official could reasonably be expected to see it.

It was a stupid thing to do. I don't even want to think about Toledo being even fifteen yards closer on that last play.

I figured there'd be plenty of lead changes in the game, and there certainly was. Great game all around.

(A bit off-topic..) The MAC having 2 bowl bids was a crucial turning point in this conference. It's still important to be MAC champs, obviously, and the kids play very hard on the field to do so. But we can all agree that losing a close MACC game now is easier to swallow than it was during the "all or nothing" first four MACCs.

Looking forward to heading downtown to the MCB.
