The bowl looked empty on TV. Official attendance is a little above 24K....what happened to 30K+???
Main problem IMO, is that we had two weeks to sell tickets. In previous years season ticket holders were given tickets as part as their package, that guarenteed 16K. With this not being offered now, not all season ticket holders bought individual tickets to the game hurting attendence. Being stuck with that ticket and not wanting to waste money probably forced alot of people to go to the game in 97,98 and 99. Also, since Toledo was given prime seating where a bunch of season ticket holder sit it pissed alot of people off since they weren't able to get their regular seats. I was also disappointed with the crowd but unless the site is predetermined I think we will continue to have this problem.

24,5something. Corners were empty. The meaty areas were full. Commend Toledo fans.....they stood the whole game. The entire freaking game. We barely get our fans to stand on 3rd down "D" effort. I thought more were there cause of the activity around the stadium. I guess they just never went to the game. I never saw as many tailgaters as today though. Phuckers need to go in and at least get counted. I honestly bet there were 40,000 within 3 blocks of the stadium any direction. TV and cold are the double edged sword for attendance. I didn't think it was cold but it was windy. A lot of people headed for the bars nearby and were shivering. Pi$$ on em. Those boys deserved better from both sets of fans. What a game. Can't talk. Voice is shot. Good game Toledo. Never disappointed in a MACC. How 'bout Trinity Dawson. Not looking forward to 8 years of that guy
Tailgating will always have the professionals. These are the people who enjoy football season just to load up their grills and coolers and head down to the lots next to the stadium. Most of these people will never set foot in the stadium.
Then you have the people that come to the game, stay till halftime and then hit the bars.
Some people just hit the bars, while others stay home and watch the game.
We have a pretty good core of "LOYAL" fans I'd say numbers about 16-17k. These are the die hards who would sit through a S*** storm just to watch the HERD. I'm with these people. I spent some time in up state NY while stationed in the AF. I noticed while passing through Buffalo and some of the other iceberg cities that the people up there dress to keep warm. The people in Huntington dress to be pretty. That is one reason people leave the games and don't come back. It sucks. I think the stadium should always be full!!
That said, you can say what you want about the attendence in our stadium. It was still more than last year, and we led the conference in butts in seats again this year.
24.6 K was given as the attendance on the call in show afterwards. I know this...it was cold. I stood in/on ice for 3 1/2 qtr before moving up a few rows. Yeah yeah, it got to 39 today, but i've been in nc for a few years and am now a winter wimp. Maybe people just didn't want to be cold.
Plus, being on e who has been to a lot of champ. games (mac, iaa) i think there are several factors, the first being that this is "just" a conference championship to some folks, not like a nat'l championship in 1aa. Second, MU fans are a spoiled lot, and third, did I mention it was cold???
I'll say, I was disheartened by the attendance.
But Terdledo fans are the last people who need complain about MACC attendance in the old home field.

I don't think Toledo fans are complaining about the attendance. Now that Marshall didn't have all season to sell tickets to the Championship game, I think they understand a little more about the crowd in Toledo last year. Add to that the horrible dissapointment of losing to BG by 35 points the week before, and it is totally understandable at high small the crowd was last year.

Noooooo actually Terd fans are the last people to say anything. All I heard last year was "Bring that to Huntington, we`ll show you how to fill a bowl up" or my favorite "We play for championships - everybody comes to see the HERD!" yada yada yada......way to show up
If that`s how you fill a bowl up....go talk to your marketing people
My season tickets are in section 103. I was just wondering where you sat during the game, Rockets1.
Very poor showing for visiting fans. The ones that showed up stood the WHOLE game. They saw a good game and supported their team.
