Now I'm no 'Bama fan by any means (not that there is anything wrong with that! Oh, wait--I just quickly thought of 10 or 12 reasons wrong with that, but let's forget that for now...)
Here is this guy's take on the departure of Fran. It's worth the read for the laughs alone...
<a href='http://reflections2002.tripod.com/' target='_blank'>He speaks for jilted fans everywhere...</a>

Then we all need to come up with an acronym for you BG fans to call UM, since you should not ever utter his name again.
I suggest--
Friggin Utah Coach Knew. How Ingrateful, Meyer!

:D
Bah, in some ways UM's deal was worse than Franchione. Franchione was careful about his words whether he was returning, plus he had to deal w/ probation. UM was explicit about unfinished business.

I would rather not be associated w/ 'Bama fans in most any way. Their bitterness amuses me as I think most are among the lowest fans in college football.

Still, I don't criticize Franchione and to be consistent I don't criticize UM. I wish him well, and I understand his decision. I am disappointed, but here's a chance for 2 teams to do well.

Go Utes.
As for me, I'll smile everytime Utah loses.

If Meyer wants to coach there, that's fine. He didn't have to go ON and ON about how much he wanted to stay in Bowling Green and take care of unfinished business.

Dakich's (brief) departure didn't irritate me nearly this much.
What's it tell you about Alabama's situation when the USF coach accepted a $500K/year extension rather than $1.5mil/year to take over Alabama?

Hey, morons, your continued worship of a dead man and the comparison of all his predecessors to him, plus your cheating your ****** off in the name of winning exempts you from preaching ethics to ANYONE. 03-banghead
Could he be another Jim Donnan, said he wasn't leaving, left and then got fired. We can only hope.
I don't feel too sorry for Alabama.

This is the same program that ran Bill Curry out of the program after he went 9-2 (losing to Auburn). Those idiots threw a brick through Curry's window, and he got death threat after death threat. The sad part is, Curry cleaned up that program. As soon as he left, they went back to their cheating ways -- and here they are today.

I don't blame Coach Fran -- my understanding was that Alabama gave him the impression that the investigation was over, when clearly it is not. The NCAA is coming back to campus, and it's not going to be pretty.

I don't know who the Tide is going to get. Who wants to deal with those idiot fans? A & M may have been unfair to Slocum, but at least they didn't personally attack him.
