This article in the Ann Arbor News discussed EMU's attendance dilemma as well as those other schools that are falling below the minimum requirements (Kent State gets prominent mention for their "creativity" in counting attendance).

I'm glad they're working on this. I've heard they already do some things to help, but I'm not sure what they are. Any input Dave?
It seems obvious that the MAC needs to help:
Schedule EMU home games when UM is away/off.
Develop a more spirited rivalry w/ nearby UT and BG. Their fans should travel as it's hardly an 'away' game to be at EMU.
Good stuff HD...BGSU should do the same thing...form a committee to market the program more. We were 9-3 this yr and still managed only about 18k a game....granted that is a 10k increase from just two years ago.
I want 25k+ every home game a Perry Stadium...the student body has done more than their share!! Its time for the alumni and community to step up or watch BG step back.

Ona a semi-serious note EMU is within about 2 to 2.5 hours from 4 other MAC West schools so start setting great deals to try to draw the opposing students. While reffing High Schools I have see most of them apply student prices to all students, including in some instances my girlfriend who is a college student.
Maybe EMU could try to get into the CMU-WMU rivalryand have a 3 way rivalry going like the commander in chief trophy (Army, Navy, Air Force). Hey, we each play the other 2 one at home and one at their place.
