Hard to tell in that huge SuperDome, but it sure didn't look like more than 15K were there, and the game wasn't very pretty, either.

UC goes down, 24-19 to the Mean Green of N. Texas State. C-USA quickly gets out of the gate at 0-1, with loss #2 likely to follow tomorrow night in Mobile.
That would be your C-USA co-Champs going down at the hands of NTSU... 04-cheers
I'm on a bad start in my office bowl pool (I picked Cincy to win), but it was worth it. I'd rather root for who I want to root for, even if it costs me a few bucks. B)

Trev said he thought Louisville was the better team and that if they showed up they would win. Isn't the quasi definition of a good team one that does show up and win. How can Louisville be considered better? Every other game they were flat. We had some scary moments but I think the kids were there to play all season. The only unexpected or at least unrealistic loss was due to a major player being injured. I just don't see how he can think that. I would take NIU BUGS UT MIAMI UCF and maybe OHIO against the Cards. Albeit close games, we won against 4 of those teams.

Stan Hill was good enough to beat Miami but not good enough to beat Akron?

That is because until Akron game, Stan was not getting many snaps in practice. After Byron was hurt, Stan got ALL of the reps in practice. Plus, he probably felt a little more comfortable.
Miami's defensive backs weren't exactly top notch either. Their pass defense was last in the MAC.

Quote:Fueling North Texas' rally was a boisterous crowd of green-clad fans, 10,000 strong, who made the drive from Denton, Tex. Most were armed with two, three-foot long tubes, 3 inches in diameter, that they banged together, making 10,000 people sound like 30,000. UC had between 700-800 fans here, judging by the amount of red in the stands. The crowd was 14,000 tops, even though attendance was announced at 19,024.

We call them Thundersticks. And considering all the sticks that were at Huskie Stadium for our BG game, that would make our crowd seem like 75,000. No wonder BG wasn't mentally ready to play...that's a big crowd... :D
Well, that explains why there were so many close-ups of the Mean Green fans in the stands.....there weren't any UC fans there. You can bet that the NO Bowl officials and the SunBelt folks are none too pleased with their lil' bowl having to endure the Bearcats when they could've had Tulane and a crowd of 30K for their bowl game.
