Full Version: Poor bowl tix sales......

Many of the minor bowls are struggling to find enough folks willing to travel large distances and spend a lot of $$ to see their 7-6 and 7-5 type teams play one more game......there just aren't many "takers".

Latest example is the only bowl probably less coveted than the MCB, that being the H-Bowl in chilly Boise (outdoors, no less). Well, they got their BCS team (a 7-6 ISU), and ISU already returned 5K of the their 10K ticket allotment......out of that 5K they expect to only sell 1K. Boise State (home team in essence) fans are now buying tickets from the Iowa State allotment as the Boise tix are sold out.

Texas Tech has sold very few tickets to the Tangerine Bowl, and now there is some speculation that based on the terrible attendance (800 UC fans tops) at the New Orleans Bowl (again), especially by C-USA the Big 12 may try to get out of the T-Bowl and the H-Bowl commitments in favor of a tie-in to New Orleans (so their fans can drive to it).

Leaves possibilities perhaps for the MAC in either Boise or even back in our beloved Tangerine Bowl, site of many a great MAC victory 25 years ago!
MAC back in the Tangerine? Gawd I love the sound of that. 04-bow

Doubt it will happen though. :(
The Tangerine would be great if we could get it!
A Tangerine/MAC hook-up is too damn logical for it to work. You have idiots running these bowls. It's all about the BCS name to them. Most of them are former execs from BCS conferences anyway.
I know a good UCF contingent would show up to root for the MAC representative.

I got free tix to last year's Tangerine Bowl (not hard to get) and we left during the third quarter. We could care less who won. We were just looking at our watches and cursing every time the clock stopped. A Pitt loss would have been nice since their lame team lost to USF earlier that year. That's no reason to sit in the stands bored to death though. If there were a MAC team playing, I would have lost my voice in the 1st quarter rooting them on.

Last year the T-Bowl officials marketed their game to UCF Boosters/Alums. They worked out some deal with UCF Marketing. That was an utter failure...for obvious reasons. LOL, why would UCF fans give a crap about Pitt & NC State? And pay $25 per ticket none-the-less!

Oh well. I learned my lesson. No more T-Bowl, even if the tix are free. It's not worth it. Not unless UCF or some other MAC team is in it.
