Nice game by the Green Wave. Of course, three factors DID work in their favor.

1) Hawaii QB "Tommy Chong" was injured and had to sit out the second half.

2) Hawaii special teams player "Cheech Marin" was ejected from the game for fighting. I think he did it on purpose, as I saw him throughout the second half with Tommy, toking on Chong's pain-relief medicine. "Up In Smoke" indeed!

3) Since this was a bowl game, Hawaii couldn't use their regular home-grown, one-sided, officiating crew.

Attendance was announced as 35,513. Who did the count? Laing Kennedy?
With no CATV, I didn't see the game, but the result made me wonder if Hawaii's big advantage is fatigue other teams feel from such a huge travel. Give a team time to adjust, and Hawaii's weaknesses come through. Of course you point out some other big factors.

Too bad, I wanted to see CUSA go 0-fer

If Hawaii's QB would not have got hurt, they would have won the game easily. The interceptions and fumbles on offense gave Tulane a short field to score on, but didn't start happening until H' QB went down.

I did like the back-up QB's Sandersesque run in the 3rd(?) where he did the spin move to pick up ten more and then slid. That was prety cool.
